The BRIC structure allows the creation of large PXI matrices over multiple slots without the use of expensive external cables. This also means all resistance values can be set - there are no missing values due to switch resistance or resistor tolerance. These modules are ideal for sensor emulation applications that require very fine adjustment and also have the capability of being set as open or short circuit to simulate faults in cabling systems. Model 51-921A resides in one of the controllers PCI slots and provides two independent StarFabric™ serial interfaces, each capable of driving a separate PXI chassis. Model 41-921A resides in the slot 1 position of a PXI chassis and interfaces to the 51-921A module to provide a PC remote control.

  • ARINC 608A - PXI ARINC 608A Switch Modules The matrix module is based on Pickering's proven BRIC format and can be specified as a 4 or 8 slot module. The module can be fitted with a combination of Resource Distributor and Bus Matrix Input daughter cards as required by the user. The maximum configuration is six Bus Matrix and two Resource Distributor cards fitted in a BRIC8 module. The daughter cards are inter-linked by the BRIC's 16-wire analog backplane giving a high level of integration, reducing the cost and complexity of cabling that would be required in implementing an equivalent system using conventional switching modules.

  • LXI 50Ω RF Matrix Pickering's LXI 50Ω RF Matrix - 2.4GHz design permits any single Y input to be connected to any single X input, permitting the concurrent connection of 16 RF paths. All signal paths are bi-directional permitting any connection to be used as an input or an output. These matrices can be supplied in a variety of configurations based on Y axis sizes of 4, 8 and 16 and X axis sizes up to 32. The smaller matrix sizes in the range are factory reconfigurable up to the maximum size.

Each module supports one or more multiplexer channels between one input/output terminal and a selection of output/input terminals. To reduce through path resistance, most of these multiplexers do not include isolation relays.
