340B - Oersted Technology
The Model 300-series magnetizers are designed to handle a variety of magnetizing applications and materials, from small Alnico parts to large blocks of neodymium-iron. Each of these magnetizers feature patented ECS (Electronic Capacitance Switching) technology, which allows the user to change the capacitance of the unit through the front panel. By setting the charging voltage and capacitance of the magnetizer properly, the user can then scale the output energy of the unit to match the magnetizing fixture being used. The 300-series magnetizers also includes a peak current meter, which automatically captures the peak current of the magnetizing pulse once it occurs. A safety circuit internally discharges the capacitor banks if mains power is removed from the magnetizer or if the cabinet is opened during operation. When connected to a suitable magnetizing fixture, the magnetizer is able to disable its front panel controls if the fixture overheats. Other features include a lockout keyswitch and a current sense output jack (this connects to an oscilliscope for viewing of the magnetizing pulse). All 300-series magnetizers can be modified for computer control, photocell trigger, or autocharge operation.

Hawk® EMS - International Medcom
The Hawk® EMS is a wall or tripod-mounted radiation monitoring and alarm system designed for use with the Hawk® Radius dual sensor radiation probe. Each EMS System comes with a Hawk Radius Probe. The system is extremely energy efficient and can run for weeks on an internal 9 volt back-up battery if power fails. It is well suited for operating on a small solar panel, which is an optional accessory. The Hawk® EMS features two displays that show the radiation levels measured by each of the probe’s two detectors: the weatherized “pancake-style” Geiger-Mueller tube — which measures alpha (if configured for it), beta, low energy gamma, and x-radiation — and the energy-compensated gamma tube which measures penetrating gamma dose rate. Obstacle Detector is a distance-measuring system based on ultrasonic sound utilizing the LPC2364FBD100. The system transmits a burst of ultrasonic sound waves towards the subject and then receives the corresponding echo. The LPC2364FBD100 integrated analog comparator is used to detect the arrival of the echo to the system. The time taken for the ultrasonic burst to travel the distance from the system to the subject and back to the system is accurately measured by the LPC2364FBD100. Assuming the speed of sound in air at room temperature to be 1100 ft/s, the LPC2364FBD100 computes the distance between the system and the subject and gives the information to buzzer. The minimum distance that this system can measure is eight inches and is limited by the transmitter’s transducer settling-time. The maximum distance that can be measured is 2 meter. The amplitude of the echo depends on the reflecting material, shape, and size. Sound-absorbing targets such as carpets and reflecting surfaces less than two square feet in area reflect poorly. The maximum measurable range is lower for such subjects. If the amplitude of the echo received by the system is so low that it is not detectable by the Comparator. The SSI is a Plug & Play Smart TEDS IEEE 1451.4 compliant portable handheld Load Cell Indicator. Just plug in a TEDS compatible Load Cell or Torque Sensor and the SSI will automatically self-calibrate. When used with a non-TEDS Load Cell or Torque Sensor, the SSI can be set up by simple front panel push buttons. The SSI can be scaled to a full 5 digit display from 0 to 99,999 counts to read directly in engineering units such as grams, ounces, pounds, inch pounds, etc. The SSI also has a Units key for automatic conversion of readings for load, torque and pressure. Our design heritage and past experience in this field cover the design, manufacture and AIT activities of many optics and sub-assemblies used in Telescope instrumentation, such as focal plane assemblies as well as the direct production of telescope mirrors themselves. Several major achievements of Thales ground-based Astronomy products were the Optical wide field corrector for the Dark Energy Survey (lien), the Reference Body for future Deformable Secondary Mirror of the VLT (lien) and different challenging spectrograph optics (Collimator and Cameras) for different Observatories (lien). One advantage Thales has with this activity is that most part of the manufacturing steps involved (i.e. opto-mechanical design, milling/grinding, lightening, polishing and coating) are directly under our control in our own facility.
