  • GHz Elastomer Sockets

    Ironwood Electronics

Ironwood’s GHz BGA & QFN/MLF sockets are ideal for prototyping and testing almost any BGA or QFN device application. These ZIF sockets provide excellent signal integrity yet remain cost effective. Innovative elastomer interconnect technology that delivers low signal loss up to >40GHz and supports BGA or QFN/MLF pitches down to 0.3mm was utilized in these sockets. GHz BGA sockets are mechanically mounted over a target system’s BGA lands using mounting and alignment holes at proper locations (page 2 of the individual socket drawing shows recommended PCB layout information). These low-profile sockets are only 2.5 mm per side larger than actual IC packages (industry’s smallest footprint). They support IC devices with body sizes ranging from 55mm down to 1mm. Larger body sizes may require a backing plate. If the backside of the target PCB contains capacitors and resistors, a custom insulation plate with cavities cut for those components can be designed. This insulation plate sandwiches between the backing plate and target PCB.

  • Isolated LVDS

    Analog Devices Inc.

Isolated LVDS (low voltage differential signaling) devices couple differential signals applied to the LVDS receiver inputs across the isolation barrier to the outputs on the other side and re-transmits the bit stream or clock as LVDS. Analog Devices' drop-in LVDS isolators offer designers robust, high speed differential signaling for point-to-point and multidrop applications. Extending iCoupler® chip scale transformer technology for ultrahigh speed data encoding, these LVDS isolators support a a data rate of up to 2.5 Gigabits per channel for a total bandwidth of 10 Gbps. In contrast to expensive fiber implementations, deserialized links over standard digital isolators or optocouplers, and design-intensive bespoke solutions using transformers or high voltage capacitors, ADI Gigabit Digital LVDS isolators offer the only integrated comprehensive, high performance isolation at 10 Gbps. High performance galvanic isolation for applications include analog front-end (AFE), processor to processor serial communication, or video and imaging data (such as HDMI isolators) as well as isolation between boards, or at a cable interface for LVDS or CML signal chains.

  • Demonstration Board

    SAMPULSE20x2 - Furaxa, Inc.

The SAMPULSE20x2 is a demonstration board for the Furaxa SiGe3 30GHz sampler/pulser IC. The SIGe3 IC is a dual channel sampler pulser chip, and the SAMPULSE20x2 demonstration board contains two 2.4mm combined TDR input/output connectors, one to each sampler/pulser channel in the IC. The SiGe3 IC's two sampler outputs are then sent to to two SMA jacks, the first outputting the sample taken on the rising edge of the sampler clock, and the second containing the sample taken on the falling edge of the sampler clock. The sampler clock input, which must be a square wave, may be set to any frequency from 5MHz to 1GHz, causing the board take two pairs of samples (one on each clock edge) at rates from 5 million to 1 billion per second. A pulser clock input, which may be set to any frequency from 5MHz to 2GHz, and MUST be a square wave (preferably differential) with rise time under 100pS, causes the board to produce concurrent pulses on both of the SiGe3's I/O pins, which produce near-concurrent pulses at the two 2.4mm sampler/pulser TDR input/output connectors.

  • USAF Targets

    Applied Image, Inc.

These targets conform to MIL-STD-150A. Frequencies change by the 6th root of 2. This target is also available in custom sizes and contrasts. This test target meets requirements as specified in MIL-STD-150A for resolving power tests. The target consists of a series of Elements having two sets of lines at right angles. Each set of lines consists of three lines separated by spaces equal to the line width. Each bar has a length to width ratio of 5:1. (Line width is equal to one half of line pitch, which is the inverse of line frequency.) Elements are arranged in groups of six each and Groups are arranged in pairs. Even numbered Groups occupy the left side and bottom right corner and contain a square feature having and edge length equal to the line length of Element 2 in that group. Odd numbered Groups occupy the top right corner and side. Groups and Elements are labeled and differentiated by numbering adjacent to their features. Frequencies in cycles/mm (c/mm) increase between each Element by the sixth root of two (approximately 12.25% per step). The general formula for the line frequency of any target Element can be expressed as 2Group+(Element-1)/6.

  • Total Solution

SD 4.1 Family - Arasan Chip Systems, Inc.

To meet the ever increasing data transfer rate in high end applications, such as professional broadcasting transmission or advanced high resolution display, the SD 4.1 specification calls out the maximum performance of 1.56 Gbps at UHS-II full duplex mode per lane or half duplex UHS-II at 3.16 Gbps. In real applications, due to the system overhead and different SD 4.1 device controller designs, the actual measured performance can vary dramatically from system to system. With the newly introduced ADMA 3, the OS driver is now able to issue multiple read or multiple write commands at once, without having to wait for the SD controller to complete one command at a time. Once the SD host controller has collected multiple commands, it will then manage and complete them without intervention from the host software drive. Thus, the UHS-II 1.56 Gbps interface can be more effectively utilized and maximize the system throughput. This feature can be very useful when running multithreaded applications where multiple applications are constantly updating their status or swapping their contents by writing or reading small chunk of data to or from the memory card.

  • Electrostatic Discharge Testing / ESD Testing

    Keystone Compliance

Electrostatic discharge testing, also known as ESD testing is an essential test for many product. Electrostatic discharge can cause a number of problems including but not limited to mechanical failures, coal dust explosions, fuel vapor explosions and bodily injury. ESD is the sudden transfer of electricity between to electrically charged objects. This electrostatic transfer can be caused by contact, dielectric breakdown or an electrical short. ESD testing simulates various electrostatic impacts that equipment might experience either during transit or operation. The impact of electrostatic discharge can be significant whether the ESD even is so slight that is undetectable by hearing or sight or as spectacular as electrical sparks or lightning. An electrostatic discharge test determines whether a product is in compliance with its ESD protective area and procedures. Electronics manufacturers must identify ESD-reducing measures when their products are either susceptible to ESD or likely to create ESD. These measures can include establishing electrostatic protective areas that are free of static, controlling humidity, using measures to eliminate charging such as avoiding highly charging materials and taking steps to remove static such as grounding human workers or requiring antistatic devices. An ESD test confirms that the equipment correctly operates per the test requirement and the manufacturer’s operating procedures.
