Automotive EMC Testing

Having been assessed by Ford Detroit’s EMC expert, we are Australia’s only Ford (and NATA) accredited automotive EMC test laboratory. Others have tried, but none have succeeded. Ford does not accept reports from EMC labs that are not on the Ford list of accredited labs. The scope ranges from component to complete vehicle level EMC testing for Australian and overseas manufacturers. We also have a fully dedicated CISPR 25 Electronic Sub Assembly (ESA) chamber, another large CISPR 25 anechoic chamber for vehicle testing or susceptibility levels in excess of 500V/m. We possess a vast array of specific automotive EMC test equipment such as BCI’s, tri-plate’s, and striplines for susceptibility and emissions testing to meet the most stringent automotive EMC requirements. Our Australian and overseas customers use our labs because they know that our reports will be accepted and will not be questioned.

Clock Drivers

Multiple timing signals ("clocks") are required by CCDs, IR FPAs, and some CMOS image sensors to transport electrical charge across the array to a sense amplifier for conversion into image data. Pulse Instruments offers a line of "clock drivers" for generating these timing signals. The parameters of these clocks (clock rate, pulse width, pulse amplitude, rise- and fall-times, etc.) greatly influence the behavior and performance of the imaging device. Our products take logic-level inputs from a pattern generator and allow the user to adjust the output parameters to suit their device and testing requirements. Clocks can be "tweaked" in real-time to determine optimal operating parameters for a particular device, or else programmed in accordance with a test plan for automated production test.

The PSD array consists of 16 parallel one-dimensional PSD elements on the same chip. By utilizing the triangulation technique the reflection of a laser line or multiple laser spots onto the PSD array will provide information about the contour of the illuminated object. The possibility for simultaneous readout of the 16 elements together with the fast response of each element makes the PSD array suitable for applications like high speed 3D contour measurements and measurements of parallel, moving objects such as cantilevers.

The A2T is a single axis, digital gravity angle sensor. The A2T serves as a full 360 range absolute tilt sensing programmable level with either digital or analog output. Internally, a rotary bar coded disk is mounted to a weighted gravity driven wheel. A micro-controller strobes an LED to transfer the bar code image onto an optical linear array, then decodes the position every 2 mSec. Magnetic damping provides fast response and settling time while virtually eliminating overshoot and oscillations. An internal EEPROM stores field programmable parameters such as resolution, zero position, direction swap, and mode. This second generation design virtually eliminates the primary accuracy limitation of first generation inclinometers, which is sitation (hysteresis).

Typically, the adapters are soldered to the target board in place of the IC device and provide a pluggable array of pins interface for sockets, probing adapters, package converters, and even board-to-board connections. These adapters are often utilized as a base for many of our probing adapter products. We constantly innovate to provide the most reliable, cost effective interfaces available. For example, many of our PLCC, QFP and SOIC emulation bases use our proprietary shaped solder techniques, replacing expensive, and often fragile, J-lead and Gull Wing leads. Shaped solder parts are easily fluxed and reflowed onto the target system. Our emulator bases can present either a male or female interface at 1.27mm or 1mm or 0.8mm pitch gold plated array pins for pluggable connection.
