  • Linear Probe Encoder

    The PE series linear plunger-style optical encoder has a machined aluminum enclosure. The PE provides either single-ended or differential quadrature encoder output in a convenient mechanical package. Various CPI (counts per inch) ranging from 120 CPI to 500 CPI are available. Using x4 quadrature counting, the available resolutions range from 0.0005" to 0.0021". Note that 127 CPI gives a resolution of 50 micrometers.

  • Networked Absolute Inclinometer

    The T7 is available in several interface and protocol options. The physical interface can be RS232, RS485 or US Digital's CAN (Controller Area Network). The protocol can be either US Digital's serial protocol or Modbus RTU. The RS232 version supports a single T7 with up to 100 ft of cable. For users that need longer cable lengths or multiple T7s on a single bus, the RS485 or US Digital CAN (Controller Area Network) version can be used. The USD-CAN protocol allows a network of up to sixty-four T7s to be connected to a single host. Power for each T7 is supplied over the CAN network cable. The host accesses the USD-CAN T7s through US Digital's low cost CANA-232/CANA-485 adapter module. This module allows the host to access each T7 on the network using simple, easy serial port commands, just like the RS232 version. The RS485 version supports up to 32 T7s on the bus.

    The EM1 is a transmissive optical encoder module designed to be an improved replacement for the Avago HEDS-9000 series encoder module. This module is designed to detect rotary or linear position when used together with a code wheel or linear strip. The EM1 consists of a lensed LED source and a monolithic detector IC enclosed in a small polymer package. The EM1 uses phased array detector technology to provide superior performance and greater tolerances over traditional aperture mask type encoders.

  • CAN to Serial Port Adapter

    CANA - U. S. Digital

    The CAN adapter serves as a command translator between a host serial port and the USD-CAN bus used by the T7 network. RS-232 or RS-485 can be used on the host side, depending on the type of adapter used. The adapter frees the user from a complicated network interface on the host side. A host can access every T7 on the network by sending/receiving simple serial port commands to/from the CAN adapter. The underlying serial commands used by both adapter boards are identical. For example, to read the angle from a particular T7, the host simply sends a serial command to the CANA-232/CANA-485 adapter which contains the command type and the address of the destination T7. The CAN adapter board translates the serial port commands from the host to the USD-CAN protocol and handles all network functions (access, error correction, etc) to access an T7 on the network. Conversely, the CAN adapter also translates the reply data from the T7 and sends the data back to the host on the serial bus. As a result, the CAN adapter makes it very easy for a user to read/write data to network of T7s.

    The HD25A is a rugged absolute encoder designed for heavy duty industrial use. This absolute encoder is a non-contacting optical rotary position sensor which reports the shaft angle within a 360 range. The HD25A can be used for automation, motion control and robotic applications. As opposed to incremental encoders, the HD25A reports the absolute position rather than just the change in position. The HD25A is a true absolute encoder over one revolution, and also has a multi-turn mode. When powered up, it does not require a home cycle, even if the shaft was rotated while the power was off. In multi-turn mode, it tracks the position in a 32-bit counter as long as the power supply is maintained.

    The A2T is a single axis, digital gravity angle sensor. The A2T serves as a full 360 range absolute tilt sensing programmable level with either digital or analog output. Internally, a rotary bar coded disk is mounted to a weighted gravity driven wheel. A micro-controller strobes an LED to transfer the bar code image onto an optical linear array, then decodes the position every 2 mSec. Magnetic damping provides fast response and settling time while virtually eliminating overshoot and oscillations. An internal EEPROM stores field programmable parameters such as resolution, zero position, direction swap, and mode. This second generation design virtually eliminates the primary accuracy limitation of first generation inclinometers, which is sitation (hysteresis).
