Our metrology solutions include mechanical and digital micrometers that accurately measure short distances, thicknesses or diameters. A standard instrument features a semicircular frame with an anvil on one end and a barrel with a spindle and turning thimble on the other. When the spindle and anvil make contact with an object, measurements are read from scales and computed, or the total measurement is digitally displayed. An outside micrometer often measures wires and shafts, an inside type measures hole diameters, and a depth meter measures slots.
