VXI
VXI stands for VME eXtensions for Instrumentation. It is an open standard first developed by five leading Test and Measurement companies in 1987 to standardise a backplane capable of developing open, interchangeable instrument modules that could be used to build Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).Data Patterns designs and markets a wide range of VXI modules, some of which are listed below. Avionics Data Bus Tester
Distributed CORVUS
Distributed CORVUS works in conjunction with CORVUS-300 to isolate bus anomalies and fault resolution. The Transmit unit, C-9235-TX, sends 1553 like data pattern through a bus stub and coupler to the Receive unit, C-9235-RX, on another stub. This will measure insertion loss, possible bit errors and correct polarity. The Receive unit can also be used to give a digital scope representation of the active data bus showing signal quality and peak to peak amplitude.

VXI IP Carrier Module

The Data Patterns DP-VXI-5124 is a VXI 'C' size Carrier Board, which occupies a single slot in the VXI system. The module is a register based device with A16/A24/A32 address space and has interrupter capability. The carrier board's VXI bus interface is used to program and monitor the carrier board registers for configuration and control of the board. The VXI bus interface is also used to communicate with and control the external devices that are connected to an IP modules field I/O signals.

ATE & Test Systems
Data Patterns' core business for over 20 years has been the development of Automated Test Equipment for critical aerospace requirements. Data Patterns developed a Multi Programmer with associated test automation software in 1994. Christened the DP-800 this product was adopted for the implementation of test rigs for Navigation Platform Test Benches, Engine Test Bed Automation, Cable Harness Test Systems, etc. This product was effectively utilized in the development of test benches required by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the Polar Satellite Launch Vechicle (PSLV) and Geo Stationary Launch Vehicle (GSLV). Based on this foundation, the next generation test benches were developed in the cPCI architecture. Presently, Data Patterns develops cPCI based test systems for Laboratory applications as well as VME based test systems for challenging environmental conditions. FMC, XMC & PMC
The FPGA Mezzanine Card is used by Data Patterns to implement signal interface with external world compatible FPGAs mounted on the FMC carrier there are primarily used for high speed analog interface for digitization (ADCs) and waveform generation (DACs). This form factor is also utilized for special I/O Interfaces such as various avionic protocols and buses. FMC I/O signals may be routed via front panel connectors or through Mezzanine connectors that route the signal back to the carrier board for routing through rear I/O of the Chassis. The system interface is designed for routing to FPGAs using a VITA 57 0.05 Pitch Terminal Array Assembly.

Cable Harness Test System
Data Patterns has built high reliability Cable Harness Test Systems for large installations. These are primarily used in launch vehicle aircraft and missile level cable harness test validation. Data Patterns DP-VME-5121 VME IP carrier board is a 6U VME bus card that provides an electrical and mechanical interface for four industry standard IP modules. The board provides full data access to the IP modules I/O, ID and memory spaces.
