  • AOI Handlings System

    MicroContact AG

The AOI handling system is a compact facility with various test units. Via an ionization cleaning station the ceramics are transferred to the contacting station. There, the resistance values of the substrates are tested with a rigid needle adapter. Afterward, the ceramics are further conveyed to the three (optionally four) AOI test stations (for automatic optical inspection) and are tested for cracks, unevenness, faulty imprints, contamination, etc. The poorly evaluated ceramics arrive at a review station where the operator can assess and evaluate the errors on the monitor. If the operator is uncertain about a fault, the ceramic in question can be positioned under the microscope position and inspected by eye. Poorly defined ceramics are marked accordingly with an ink pen.

The LCMS-8045 also achieves the world's fastest scan speed (30,000 u/sec) and polarity switching speed (5 msec). These enable ultra-high-speed, high-sensitivity analysis. The excellent cost performance of this system is demonstrated in food safety, environmental analysis, and other quantitative analyses, it can be upgraded to the LCMS-8060.

  • Insulating Oil Testing

    Megger Group Ltd.

Insulating oil in electrical power apparatus serves two primary roles, as an insulator and a coolant. As an insulating liquid, oil’s most important property is a high dielectric strength and as a cooling liquid, a low viscosity is paramount. The principal nemeses of insulating oil are oxidation, contamination (particularly moisture, which tends to lower the dielectric properties of insulating oil), and excessive temperature. These enemies are managed through design, regimented installation processes and prudent operation of the oil-filled power apparatus. At all stages of a power asset’s life, testing must be conducted to evaluate the condition of the insulating oil. In fact, for some assets, it can be argued that the oil is tested more frequently than any other component.

  • Ionizers

Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe GmbH

There are many production processes where electrostatic charges disturb smooth operation. To eliminate static, ionizers are used. One typical field of application is the semiconductor industry where the components are extremely sensitive and can even be damaged by high electric static charges. Another example is the printing industry: Here friction between the rollers and the paper generates static. The static makes the paper cling and not move correctly through the printing machine. Especially when printing on vinyl or plastics, electrostatic charges need to be removed. In the packaging industry, plastic sleeves or foils tend to stick to each other, which can be prevented with an ionizer eliminate static. A general problem in assembling processes is the adhesion of dust and dirt particles. Contamination of workpieces can be prevented by having static eliminators neutralize and blow away undesired particles.

  • Silver Ball Matrix Sockets

    Ironwood Electronics

SM Contact is a unique contact that has precise silver balls held together by a proprietary conductive formulation. These conductive columns (diameter optimized for 50 ohm impedance) are suspended in a non-conductive flexible elastomer substrate with a patented solid core for enhanced durability and reliable performance over time, temperature and cycles. This flexible substrate is very compliant and resilient and enables the conductive columns to revert back to original shape when the force is removed. Solutions are available for 0.25mm to 1.27mm LGA, BGA, QFN, CSP, POP, WLP and other packages. The silver ball matrix contact technology is also available with a protective plunger matrix (a gold plated copper cylinder) that sits on top of the conductive columns. This plunger matrix protects the conductive column from contamination from various solder ball interfaces. A quickly replaceable plunger matrix enables minimal downtime during final production test. The product family code for this line of sockets is SMP.

  • 2100Vdc Screw Terminal Connector Board | Cable & Harness Tester

    CB29H - CAMI Research Inc. (CableEye®)

CAMI Research Inc. (Acton, MA) announces another new board for its CableEye cable and harness testing systems. Populated with four 16-pole screw terminal blocks, the board addresses high voltage (HiPot) testing to 2100Vdc/1200Vac. Of particular interest to the harness testing market, the CB29H is also available as a transition board variant (CB29AH). The CB29H and CB29AH boards are high voltage versions of the CB29 with the high voltage traces running on inner layers to afford additional safety, and protection from contamination. Each contains four 16-pole screw terminal blocks that will accept bare wires from 12- to 30-gauge in size. The metal jaws firmly grip an inserted wire without damaging or distorting the end, and the space between each terminal block may be used as a wire channel to guide wires neatly to the side. For each channel, a pair of holes is provided through which wire ties may be inserted to hold the wire bundles in place.

  • Capacitive Proximity Sensors

    SICK Sensor Intelligence

Sometimes you need to know what is hidden beneath a surface. Behind a wall, for example, inside a storage container, inside a shipping container, or behind a cover. Capacitive proximity sensors are ideal for level and feed monitoring. From solid material, such as paper or wood, to granules or liquids, they can be relied upon to detect what is happening in the production process and during final inspection. Is there something behind that cover? Is the finished package really full? How much paint is still left in the tank? For capacitive proximity sensors, these are easy questions to answer. SICKs capacitive proximity sensors are never far from the action. Sensing ranges between 1 and 25 mm allow them to be used in nearly all installation situations, making them extremely adaptable for a wide range of applications. These sensors are also remarkably resistant to interference. Impurities, contamination, dust, and airborne spray particles have little effect on them, nor does electromagnetic interference. No wonder they are installed in a wide range of industries, such as food and automotive, or in storage and conveyor systems.

  • Dial Indicators

    Rhopoint Metrology Ltd

    1. Always select the dial test indicator that best fits the application.2. Care should be taken while using a dial test indicator, try not to jolt the indicator, should you be unfortunate and drop a dial test indicator, get it re-calibrated/repaired before reusing it.3. Replace worn contact points only with those of a similar length from the centre of the ball stylus to the abutment shoulder.4. Always clean dial test indicators after use with a lint free paper or cloth and store the indicator in its box or in a dust free area.5. When using a dial test indicator, always position the dial test indicator in a horizontal plane to the surface media.6. Always use a rigid stand for mounting the dial test indicator.7. When measuring a rotating object, either between centres or in a vee block, ensure that the object is rotating in the correct direction. Never rotate the workpiece towards the contact point.8. When measuring a sliding object, only take readings when the object is moving directly towards the contact point, never away from the contact point or in a sideways manner.9. Avoid parallax errors by reading the dial directly from the front and square on to the dial.10. Never oil a dial test indicator as this attracts contamination, should the movement become erratic then the dial test indicator should be submitted to a reputable repair agent.11. Try not to expose dial test indicators to direct sunlight or in a high humidity environment.12. Never use a dial test indicator that has not been calibrated, if in doubt consult an appropriate authority.

  • Oil Tan Delta Tester

    OTD - Megger Group Ltd.

The Oil Tan Delta (OTD) is a laboratory instrument, which measures the Tan Delta, Resistivity and Relative Permittivity of insulating liquids. These tests give a wider picture of the overall quality of the insulating oil, and will indicate if there is any contamination. Megger has developed features of the OTD to ensure that productivity levels within laboratories are maximised. The microprocessor controlled inductive heater means that there is uniformity of temperature throughout the cell, in compliance with IEC 60247, and for cooling a fan effectively speeds up the cell cooling time. The instrument has a temperature measuring range of 10 to 110 C, with an accuracy of 1 C. It can be set to preheat before testing takes place. The automated oil drain facility negates the need to move the oil vessel. User safety is paramount and with this in mind, Megger have designed independent and dual redundant high voltage cut-off circuitry. If for any reason the user needs to abort the test, this can be done so by pressing any key, immediately terminating the test and removing the high voltage. The design of the cell components maximise oil fill rate but minimise turbulence in oil flow and eliminate trapping of air. With only 32 cell components, it is easy to assemble and disassemble.
