  • Primary Injection Test Systems

    Megger Group Ltd.

Primary current injection testing is utilised in high current/high voltage scenarios found at large electrical installations such as substations. A large current (between 100A and 20,000A depending on system specifications and test requirements) is injected directly on the primary side of the electrical system such as a circuit breaker. The objective of the test is to identify how the system operates under various levels of current load.

  • 17th Edition and Part P Testers

    Megger Group Ltd.

Megger Multifunction Installation Testers are capable of performing all the tests required by the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations. The range includes the MFT single instument, and the MTK series of individual insulation, loop and RCD testers supplied as a kit in a robust carry case.

  • Transformer Resistance Testing

    Megger Group Ltd.

By measuring a transformer''s winding resistance from one HV transformer bushing to another, transformer resistance testing can reveal a great deal of information about the transformer. In addition to the obvious faulted transformer winding (i.e., an open winding or shorted turn), subtler problems can be detected. The DC current, in addition to flowing through the winding, also flows through the off-load ratio adjusting switch (DETC), the on-load ratio adjusting switch (on load tap changer or OLTC), as well as numerous welded and mechanical connections. Hence, the integrity of all these components can be verified with the use of transformer resistance test instruments. Applying DC test current through OLTC switches under transition (tap changes) validates proper make-before-break operation. From experience, it is known that the on load time changer has the greatest risk of misoperation as it operates within a transformer.

  • Oil Tan Delta Tester

    OTD - Megger Group Ltd.

The Oil Tan Delta (OTD) is a laboratory instrument, which measures the Tan Delta, Resistivity and Relative Permittivity of insulating liquids. These tests give a wider picture of the overall quality of the insulating oil, and will indicate if there is any contamination. Megger has developed features of the OTD to ensure that productivity levels within laboratories are maximised. The microprocessor controlled inductive heater means that there is uniformity of temperature throughout the cell, in compliance with IEC 60247, and for cooling a fan effectively speeds up the cell cooling time. The instrument has a temperature measuring range of 10 to 110 C, with an accuracy of 1 C. It can be set to preheat before testing takes place. The automated oil drain facility negates the need to move the oil vessel. User safety is paramount and with this in mind, Megger have designed independent and dual redundant high voltage cut-off circuitry. If for any reason the user needs to abort the test, this can be done so by pressing any key, immediately terminating the test and removing the high voltage. The design of the cell components maximise oil fill rate but minimise turbulence in oil flow and eliminate trapping of air. With only 32 cell components, it is easy to assemble and disassemble.

  • Loop and RCD Testers

    Megger Group Ltd.

Use these products to determine the prospective earth fault current, which is the maximum current able to flow in a phase-earth fault in an installation, and also to indicate the prospective short circuit current which is the maximum current able to flow in the event of a phase-neutral fault.

  • Current Transformer Testing

    Megger Group Ltd.

The need for a comprehensive current transformer testing regime is evident when the alternative is considered: a catastrophically damaging current transformer fault. A fault leading to an open secondary could cause the primary current to overwhelm the insulation, causing the winding to short circuit. Megger's range of current transformer test equipment allows you to construct an in depth test and maintenance programme to prevent problems before they occur.

  • Cable Route Tracing and Identification

    Megger Group Ltd.

Cable pinpointers and fault locators from Megger make the process of cable route tracing and identification quicker and more accurate. These pinpointing systems are portable for everyday fieldwork and provide services from power and telecoms to water, rail and gas utilities. HV and LV buried cables can be traced to a depth of up to 5m.

  • AC Insulation Testing

    Megger Group Ltd.

AC insulation tests are a popular response to the increasingly demanding industrial, power and domestic marketplaces.

  • Cable Sheath Fault Location

    Megger Group Ltd.

Locating cable sheath faults is one of the last steps in cable testing, occurring after you have identified the existence of a cable fault via the identification procedure based on your specific site variables and the type of system you are working on

  • Cable Test and Diagnostic Accessories

    Megger Group Ltd.

Megger''s overhead line testing equipment concentrates on the importance of ensuring that the phasing is correct.

  • Cable Test Vans

    Megger Group Ltd.

Whether you are working on-site, in the countryside or an urban environment, having the right equipment available when conducting fault location operations is vital. When the correct tools can be accessed easily, fault-location time speeds up dramatically, and faults can be dealt with more efficiently. Megger's range of cable test vans offer solutions to the challenges of fault location in the real world, no matter the environment. Our test van systems have been developed in collaboration with end users to ensure that they live up to the standards of daily fieldwork. Our vans are designed to be adaptable to the end users needs so that the most appropriate tests may be carried out for the cable in question, regardless of whether it is low, medium or high voltage.
