These extenders deliver a superior performance since they are assembled with SAGE Millimeter’s instrumentation grade frequency extenders (STE series), Faraday isolators (STF series), direct or programmable attenuators (STA series), directional couplers (SWD series) and waveguide detectors (STD series). This custom oscillator subassembly consists of two low noise oscillators covering 1.5 to 2.5 GHz, a power combiner, a standard Teledyne RF & Microwave amplifier, and a lowpass microstrip filter. Teledyne RF & Microwave designed both oscillators for low phase noise and linear tuning. The output frequency bands are switched using standard TTL control.

The new ERF-5W™ filter takes Pole/Zero’s MINI-ERF® technology to a higher level of RF power handling, with 5W (average) in-band power handling, and covering the entire military tactical radio tuning range of 30-520 MHz in one integrated package. This tunability is accomplished by the use of three poles of selectivity, multiple internal tunable filters along with high performance PIN diode RF band select switches. The tunable filters are designed to minimize size and power consumption, while maintaining high RF power handling and linearity characteristics. Serial control is accomplished via a standard Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI)-based bus.

The Bandmaster III universal band decoder is a highly integrated unit that not only decodes band information using YAESU “band data” (note 1), but can sense band information for all bands from160M through 6M, including 160M, separate 80M and 75M, 60M, WARC bands and 6M by monitoring CAT (note 2) data going to and from the radio. The Bandmaster III also contains all circuitry for level conversion thus eliminating the need for a separate CAT radio interface (note 3).

The X Band coupler with dual output has an input power range of either -5 to +10 dBm, or +5 to +20 dBm. Covering 8.0 to 9.5 GHz, insertion loss is less than 1.0 dB and VSWR is 1.5:1. The coupler/detector has two external resistors providing independently settable threshold TTL outputs. The power flatness is ~0.4 dB and hysteresis is 0.1 dB. Cougar can provide this function in other frequency ranges and input power ranges.
