The design of the Prometheus is the result of over 10,000 hours of research and development, encompassing hundreds of hours of mathematical analysis, computer simulation and modeling, and numerous prototypes and experiments spanning over a five year period. The result is a rugged, commercial quality amplifier designed to run cool under 1500W continuous SSB, CW or RTTY, with special ferrite transformers and combiners designed for full power operation even on 160 meters. Although our custom transformers are more expensive and difficult to manufacture than competing designs, they do not saturate or heat up beyond the Curie point, thereby becoming irreversibly damaged and destroying the RF transistors in the process.

Our highly anisotropic ion beam etching process enables us to produce features down to 10 microns. Furthermore, the milling process yields a high consistency from circuit to circuit meaning that whether we produce 1 or 100,000 filters, each one will have consistent filter roll-off characteristics.

The new ERF-5W™ filter takes Pole/Zero’s MINI-ERF® technology to a higher level of RF power handling, with 5W (average) in-band power handling, and covering the entire military tactical radio tuning range of 30-520 MHz in one integrated package. This tunability is accomplished by the use of three poles of selectivity, multiple internal tunable filters along with high performance PIN diode RF band select switches. The tunable filters are designed to minimize size and power consumption, while maintaining high RF power handling and linearity characteristics.
