Clockwise and/or counter-clockwise rotation of the wand is programmable allowing an optimum adaptation to the machine. The scanning intensity is adjustable in 8 steps. Even rotating drills with small diameters can be checked. The scanning results are display as "OK" or "KO" and signalled by LEDs on the front side of the device. The PROFIBUS is a standard Sub-D 9 pin connection; the USB connection is a USB-mini plug / type B and meets the 2.0 specification.Three digital inputs serve to activate the functions "Teach-in" to learn the position to be scanned, "Start" to initialize the scanning process and "Configurable" for receiving a stop command. Two digital outputs provide the signals for the message "OK" or "KO".The relay contacts are configurable as N/C or N/O connections. They can be set as momentary (valid with start or timed) or latching.Convenient configuration software for programming and setting of tool data is available at no cost.

TK9LIN50 -
Techna-Tool Inc.
BK Mikro Linear is based on the existing design concepts for tool, object and free space monitoring and is modified to utilize a rack and pinion probe instead of a wand. This system monitors a specific distance or depth with longitudinal scanning. This is especially useful in cases where rotary scanning is inappropriateorimpossible. Some examples would be cavities, blind or through holes and places where space is limited. It can also be used to verify a part is in place during assembly or that the proper part is on the machine by probing a specific feature.

A LiDAR system can observe the complete field of view (FOV) at once, called Flash systems. Flash typically works well for short to mid-range (0-100m), and by capturing the complete scene at once also objects with high relative speeds can be detected properly. Another implementation is to focus on a subset of the FOV, consequentially look at the next subsets, until the complete FOV is covered, called Scanning. Scanning can focus the light on the subset instead of the full FOV, and therefore can do object detection at a longer range compared to Flash.
