The UPC Verification Calibration standards are a unique set of symbols that assures an exact and reliable primary bar code standard exists for UPC codes based on ANSI X3.182/ISO 15416 methodology. These standards assures that manufactures of verification equipment, scanners, QC labs and end users now have an accurate basis for checking the measurement capabilities of their equipment. These standards are intended as a fundamental calibration tool for an QC program, providing a continuous scale from best to worse case characteristics of each parameter. Each symbol is individually calibrated to ANSI X3.182/ISO 15416 standards using a custom built microdensitometer. HORIBA Scientific produces a wide range of holographic master gratings from which high precision replicas are manufactured.Using Type IV aberration-corrected monochromator gratings, a single concave grating disperses, collimates, and refocuses the light from the entrance slit onto the exit slit. Wavelength scanning is obtained through a simple rotation of the grating.The groove spacing of these gratings is computer-optimized to produce high quality images with a minimum of astigmatism and coma, even at large numerical apertures. The amount of information processed and time constraints required the creation of a multi-level distributed image processing system based on National Instruments Compact Vision System controllers, industrial computers and workstations. During the control process, the wheel is watered with a magnetic-luminescent emulsion, magnetized and exposed to ultraviolet radiation. As a result, the emulsion deposited on the defects glows in the visible range (yellow-green light). Eleven FireWire (IEEE 1394) color cameras with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 are used to scan the wheel surface. In one iteration, they completely cover a 20-degree sector of the wheel.

ADLINK PXI-7921 is a relay multiplexer which consists of 24 2-wire relays (DPDT, 2 Form C). As a multiplexer, the PXI-7921 provides 48x1 1-wire, 24x1 2-wire and 12x1 4-wire configurations. Users could choose one of the configurations by software. PXI-7921 typically connects one instrument, such as a DMM, a digitizer or a signal source, with many points which need measurement or excitation. The contact position of the relays can be changed either by direct software commands or by following the instructions previously stored in the on-board scan list. The scan list advances upon the trigger from external measurement devices, such as a DMM. The scan list could also advance when the scan-delay timer expires. In the PXI-7921, PXI trigger functions are supported and software programmable. Multiple modules can therefore be synchronized without additional field wiring.
