ATi’s Half Shaft Telemetry System transmits torque signals from rotating shafts to a stationary telemetry receiver. It connects directly to strain gages adhered to the shaft converting it into a torque sensor allowing it to transmit shaft torque while the vehicle is operating. This system is a testing tool used by automotive and racing engineers to obtain real-time torque measurements from vehicle drivelines.

Shaft Speed Switches
A speed switch senses rotating shaft speed, comparing it to one or more settable over/under/zero speed alarm trip-points. A shaft speed sensor detects magnets embedded in a shaft-mounted pulser wrap/disc. As the shaft rotates, the passing magnets are detected across an air-gap as pulses with frequency proportional to shaft RPM. When a conveyor belt or bucket elevator begins to slip the pulse frequency (shaft RPM) crosses to the alarm side of a trip-point threshold, a corresponding relay de-energizes, providing shutdown or alarm.

Radio Telemetry: A transmission of data from a remote source via a radio to a receiving station for recording and analysis. Inductance: A contactless method of supplying power to (in this case) a strain gauge bridge. The signal is then transmitted back to the electronics. Slip Ring: Consists of a conductive band mounted on a shaft and is insulated from it. The wheatstone bridge is connected to the bands (usually four off). Fixed brushes or contacts make contact on to the bands to transfer power to the bridge and signal back to the static instrumentation.
