Radio Telemetry
Procter & Chester Measurements Ltd
Radio Telemetry: A transmission of data from a remote source via a radio to a receiving station for recording and analysis. Inductance: A contactless method of supplying power to (in this case) a strain gauge bridge. The signal is then transmitted back to the electronics. Slip Ring: Consists of a conductive band mounted on a shaft and is insulated from it. The wheatstone bridge is connected to the bands (usually four off). Fixed brushes or contacts make contact on to the bands to transfer power to the bridge and signal back to the static instrumentation.

Socket Wrench Torque Sensor Rotating Type
RSS SERIES
Our RSS Series rotating socket wrench torque sensors are available in ranges from 10 ft-lbs. through 250 ft-lbs. and provide accurate measurements of bolt or nut wrenching torques. These sensors are bi-directional so both tightening and break-away torques can be measured. Unlimited rotation of the ball bearing supported sensor shaft allows monitoring of the total fastening cycle. The sensing element incorporates bonded foil strain gages of the highest quality, along with coined silver slip rings and two silver graphite brushes per ring for data transmission.

Autopilot Directional Gyroscopes
4000C/D-series
The 4000C/D is an air-driven directional gyro with A.C. autopilot pickoffs. Left turns produce clockwise dial rotation and right turns produce counter-clockwise rotation. Two knobs control the gyro. The left knob is used to cage the unit, and the right knob is used to select the instrument’s heading. To change course, the right selector knob is pressed and turned to disengage the dial shaft and set the pointer to a new heading. Releasing the selector knob re-engages the pointer with the dial shaft. As the aircraft turns onto a new course, the pointer returns to its original position. The on-course position of the pointer is always at the top of the azimuth circle (0° on the dial with the aircraft headed north).

Standard Directional Gyroscopes
4000B-series
The 4000B is our standard air-driven directional gyro. As the aircraft turns left or right, gears on the sensing unit and dial shaft translate this rotation into rotation of the instrument’s vertical dial. Left turns produce clockwise dial rotation and right turns produce counter-clockwise rotation. The gyro is controlled by a heading selector knob located on the lower left of the instrument. Pressing and turning the knob first disengages the dial shaft and then resets the dial to a new heading, which results in a new course indication. Releasing the selector knob re-engages the dial shaft. The on-course position of the pointer is always at the top of the azimuth circle (0° on the dial with the aircraft headed north).

DSx
Synchros are transformer-type voltage/current transducers that convert a shaft or other rotating device's angular position and/or velocity to a multi-wire AC electrical signal. Both deliver signals proportional to the Sine and/or Cosine of the shaft angle. A Digital-to-Synchro simulator is used to convert digital angle/velocity commands to corresponding Synchro/Resolver AC signals.

Agriculture Solutions
The trend in agriculture: The drives of machines and commercial vehicles must be capable of transmitting increasingly high power within a limited space. Reproducible quality in series manufacture with the shortest possible production times are the key requirements in this industry. The hay makers and harvesters perform their task using straight bevel gears. Because the loads in these machines are comparatively small, a cost-effective manufacturing solution is crucial for the market success of straight bevel gears. It’s a different story as far as tractors are concerned: Spiral bevel gears are installed in the rear axles in this case – and the bevel gear set of a tractor’s rear-axle differential must transmit up to 400 kW. In tractors, cylindrical and planetary gears are also used in manual transmissions and counter shaft transmissions as well as planetary gear drives for transmitting power to the enormous drive wheels. These cylindrical and planetary gears must be efficient, quiet-running, and low-maintenance. With solutions from Klingelnberg, the entire portfolio can be produced on bevel-gear and cylindrical-gear machines.

Electrostatic Capacitance-Type Gap Detectors
VE series
VE series are non-contact type of vibration/small displacement detector with high accuracy which can measure the distance between conductor such as metal and sensor’s surface in micron/submicron resolution. It demonstrates its best performance when used for the measurement and control of the axial and surface vibration of rotational shafts such as main shaft of turbines, electric motors, compressors, and of the thickness and width of moving objects. In addition to the measurement of the amount of displacement, a gap detector can also be used for a wide range of other measurement and control applications such as the measurement of the amount of slack or warping. The non-contact measurement process enables to apply no load to rotational or vibration body, and does not affect the material under measurement.

Rotary Hall Effect Sensor
The output of the Rotary Hall-effect sensor is a voltage which changes in direct proportion to the shaft angle. The sensor is non-contact, using Hall elements to determine the angle of a magnet. The magnet is either mounted in a shaft integral to the sensor or can be mounted externally to the sensor.
