A four-channel silicon-based thermopile detector in a TO-5 package. Each small active area size is 0.61mm x 0.61mm. This is our lowest-cost and fastest time constant four-channel detector. It delivers a time constant of 18ms with Nitrogen encapsulation gas combined with a very low Temperature Coefficient of Responsivity of -0.04%/C. This detector has a very short thermal shock response to ambient temperature change.

The module has a built in LD socket, in which LD of 14 pin butterfly type is installed, which makes it possible for the user to change the LD he or she wants to drive when needed. It is leaded to get rid of the inefficiency of expense, at which various types of expensive united source module needed are purchased. By operating monitoring PD and high-performance processor that are installed inside the module, the output power and temperature of LD can be driven accurately and stably. The laser diodes can be modulated internally in square, sinusoidal, and triangular waves and its output power and temperature can also be maintained the level set by the user. In order to realize the various functions, the efficient and multi-functioned control programs with high speed processor, LCD monitor or GUI for remote control are available.

*Laser Thermal Power Sensors

Thermal sensors have a series of bimetallic junctions called a thermopile. Radial or axial heat flow through the sensor creates a voltage proportional to the power absorbed as it flows through the thermopile. The reading is not dependent on the ambient temperature since only the temperature difference is measured and not the absolute temperature. The thermopile elements are so arranged that the reading is almost independent of beam size and position. Generally, Ophir specifies ±2% or better uniformity of reading over the surface.
