The location of sensitive electronic devices such as a precision balance can be examined with the magnetometer. The extent to which the radiation intensity increases or decreases with distance can be determined by positioning the magnetometer at various distances from the radiation source.

The integrating sphere has highly reflective diffusing plates formed on the spheres internal surfaces.
