Remote Control Interface
The kit is supplied with this PCIe card which can plug into any PC PCIe slot, a PXI module for insertion into Slot 1 of a PXI chassis and 3m lead to connect the two parts together. The interface uses a single lane PCIe connection from the PC to provide a software transparent link from the PC PCIe backplane to the PXI backplane. The supplied 3m shielded lead ensures the system has robust operation and an adequate separation distance between the PC and the PXI chassis.

Each channel of the EXC-1553PCMCIA/Px-1760 operates simultaneously as a Bus controller and/or multiple (up to 32) Remote Terminals, or as a Triggerable Bus Monitor. The card supports Checksum, SRQ bit and Header Words as well as error injection and error detection. The card’s small size and compatibility with notebook computers make it the perfect solution for performing system simulation of the MIL-STD-1553 bus, in the lab and in the field.The EXC-1553PCMCIA/Px-1760 card is supplied with C drivers, including source code, Merlin+ Windows software and may be used with Exalt, Excalibur’s Analysis and Laboratory Tools, a Windows monitoring application.

CAN Interface
The USB-8501 is a low-speed controller area network (CAN) interface for developing applications with the NI‑XNET driver. The USB‑8501 is powered over the USB bus and does not require external power. It excels in applications requiring real-time, high-speed manipulation of hundreds of CAN frames and signals such as bus monitoring, automation control, and more. The NI‑XNET device‑driven DMA engine enables the onboard processor to move CAN frames and signals between the interface and the user program without CPU interrupts, minimizing message latency and freeing host processor time for processing complex applications. The USB‑8501 is available with a three‑pin COMBICON synchronization connector for triggering and synchronizing the internal hardware timebase with other devices.

The M8KDiscrete contains control I/O registers that are memory-mapped and may be accessed in real time. In addition, the module can record changes in the input discrete with an associated time tag via a built-in FIFO.
