The 150 series 2WD dynamometer is a compact offering that let’s you tune street cars without a large dedicated space. The 150 portable includes a pallet jack modification on one end of the frame and two bottle jacks on the other allow you to move this dyno in your shop. The portability kit lets you free up space as needed. The portable 150 is ideal for smaller shops, schools and outdoor events. There is no need to secure the unit to the ground – simply lower the unit onto the ground, hook up the light-weight composite ramps and start testing. With ultra-low inertia and a powerful 625-hp PAU, the MD-150 is a perfect combination of power and finesse – capable of handling most sport compact applications with ease. The 1200-hp measurement capacity means you’ll have no problem pulling horsepower sweeps with this low-profile dyno. The MD-150 is best suited for real-time, steady state tuning of stand-alone engine management systems such as Autronic, MoTeC, Accel DFI, F.A.S.T., AEM, Haltech and the like. From a dynamometer stand-point, the main focus of real-time programming is dynamometer sensitivity, resolution, and set-point stability. The MD-150’s ultra-low inertia design and high speed controller maximize the user’s experience by minimizing controller “wondering” and enhancing system control – simply dial in a speed and let the MD-150 take over. Today’s Fleet Managers are faced with many challenges – most important of which is maintaining a healthy bottom line. With fuel costs at an all-time high, these challenges have become increasing difficult. Fleets being transitioned from fossil fuels to electric propulsion also face challenges with durability and range to make sure routes can be completed on time each and every day. To help combat these problems and others facing fleet managers today, Mustang Dynamometer offers the MD-7500-HD Series Chassis Dynamometer – which features the most advanced diagnostic capabilities in the industry. The MD-7500-HD is designed to simulate the driving conditions that fleet vehicles encounter on the road every day in a safe and controlled shop floor environment so that critical engine and drivetrain systems can be evaluated to insure vehicles are performing properly and at maximum efficiency. What’s more, the MD-7500-HD offers several levels of testing capabilities in a modular, compact package and with capabilities that can be upgraded in the future as your needs change. Every vehicle in your fleet can now be tested and validated before and after a repair to ensure proper diagnosis and repairs have been performed. In addition to testing repaired vehicles, the MD-7500-HD can be used to test vehicles on a regular basis as a preventative maintenance measure which decreases unexpected breakdowns and allows fleet management to control fuel costs while reducing repair costs. Periodic testing keeps fuel consumption to a minimum and helps technicians identify suspect components before they fail. A proactive approach to Fleet Service can prevent unexpected engine and or drive-train failure which saves organizations thousands of dollars in lost fair revenues. At the heart of the MD-7500-HD is a set of three air-cooled eddy current power absorbers. Each absorber, or brake, can hold up to 600-hp (total power of 1,800-hp) – more than enough to simulate a fully loaded transit bus. As the systems PAU’s (brakes) are air-cooled, no water is required to or from the device – eliminating the high cost of water consumption and/or the cost of an expensive water recovery system – which can sometimes exceed the cost of the dynamometer system itself. Mustang is the only company that offers a Universal Fleet Test Bed without water supply requirements. AC Motors can be added to simulate regeneration and validate range for organizations that have transitioned to carbon free electric propulsion. The 7500 is the best solution for fleet managers looking to improve their bottom line and offer disruption-free public transportation.

Mustang has developed a low-cost, simple to use, easy-to-install heavy duty chassis dynamometer that can be used to simulate real-world driving conditions in a safe, controlled environment and can also be used for “static” diesel smog testing for regulatory purposes. This model is used in Diesel Smog Programs in Nevada and Colorado when combined with an approved opacity meter. The MD-250-M is a compact dynamometer with industry proven design features including 10.7-inch rollers, heavy duty spherical pillow-block ball bearings, welded structural steel frame, 7.5 hp calibration motor, and an industry standard air-cooled, Eddy Current Power Absorption Unit (PAU) for road-load simulation. The MD-250-M is available in both right and left hand configurations to accommodate different facility designs.

Powder Brake Dynamometers

The Powder Brake Dynamometer (PB Series) contains, as its name suggests, a magnetic powder. The electrical current passing through the coil generates a magnetic field, which changes the property of the powder, thus producing a smooth braking torque through friction. They are ideal for applications operating in the low to middle speed range or when operating in the middle to high torque range. Like Hysteresis Brakes, Powder Brakes provide full torque at zero speed. Like the Eddy-Current Brake Dynamometers, the PB series are water-cooled, allowing for power ratings up to 48 kW. The PB Dynamometers have accuracy ratings of 0.3% to 0.5% full scale ( 2% for PB 2.7), depending on size and system configuration. Additional mounting possibilities include speed pickup and OEM version IS.
