At the heart of the MD-7500 is a set of three air-cooled eddy current power absorbers. Each absorber, or brake, can hold up to 600-hp (total power of 1,800-hp) more than enough to simulate a fully loaded transit bus. As the systems PAU''s (brakes) are air-cooled, no water is required to or from the device eliminating the high cost of water consumption and/or the cost of an expensive water recovery system which can sometimes exceed the cost of the dynamometer system itself. This system is suitable for transient test of actual vehicle in combination with the real-time model calculation by the measurement/control panel and low inertial motor. By replacing the wheel of the actual vehicle with the tire type bearing, the axle shaft is taken out to the outside of the vehicle and connected to the low inertia motor. It can be reproduced the sliding motion which the chassis dynamometer cannot be realized. Also, since the longitudinal force is not occurred in the vehicle, the vehicle restraint can be simplified and the behavior such as shift shock can be reproduced on the bench.

Full time AWD vehicles are designed to provide maximum performance regardless of road conditions. In cases where traction is less than ideal, a vehicle may be designed to improve stability and traction at the expense of power. This means adding torque to a spinning wheel or retarding of timing. In order to properly test an AWD vehicle for peak performance, an AWD chassis dynamometer must be able to simulate ideal road-load conditions to the vehicle. This approach allows the vehicle to be evaluated under "optimum" operational conditions; whereby torque is distributed to the vehicle's tires in the same manner that would normally occur when a vehicle has equal traction at all four drive wheels, and is therefore operating at peak efficiency.
