The 500 series 2WD dynamometer is a high horsepower dyno that lets you tune street cars without a large dedicated space. The 500 portable includes a pallet jack modification on one end of the frame and two bottle jacks on the other allow you to move this dyno in your shop. The portability kit lets you free up space as needed. The portable 500 is ideal for smaller shops, schools and outdoor events. There is no need to secure the unit to the ground – simply lower the unit onto the ground, hook up the aluminum ramps and start testing.

At the heart of the MD-7500 is a set of three air-cooled eddy current power absorbers. Each absorber, or brake, can hold up to 600-hp (total power of 1,800-hp) more than enough to simulate a fully loaded transit bus. As the systems PAU''s (brakes) are air-cooled, no water is required to or from the device eliminating the high cost of water consumption and/or the cost of an expensive water recovery system which can sometimes exceed the cost of the dynamometer system itself. Mustang is the only company that offers a Universal Fleet Test Bed without water supply requirements.

The low profile design and relatively small footprint of the MD-150 makes it ideal for these situations. Mustang has integrated a lift jack like you would see on a standard pallet jack into the frame of the MD-150 and equipped the opposite side of the dyno with retractable heavy-duty casters to make moving the dyno around the shop easy for a single person. The 1200-hp measurement capacity means you’ll have no problem pulling horsepower sweeps with this low-profile dyno. The MD-150 is best suited for real-time, steady state tuning of stand-alone engine management systems such as Autronic, MoTeC, Accel DFI, F.A.S.T., AEM, Haltech and the like. From a dynamometer stand-point, the main focus of real-time programming is dynamometer sensitivity, resolution, and set-point stability. The MD-150’s ultra-low inertia design and high speed controller maximize the user’s experience by minimizing controller “wondering” and enhancing system control – simply dial in a speed and let the MD-150 take over. In cases where traction is less than ideal, a vehicle may be designed to improve stability and traction at the expense of power. This means adding torque to a spinning wheel or retarding of timing. In order to properly test an AWD vehicle for peak performance, an AWD chassis dynamometer must be able to simulate ideal road-load conditions to the vehicle. This approach allows the vehicle to be evaluated under "optimum" operational conditions; whereby torque is distributed to the vehicle's tires in the same manner that would normally occur when a vehicle has equal traction at all four drive wheels, and is therefore operating at peak efficiency.

An excellent 2WD performance dyno in and of itself, the MD-500 is simply one-half of the MD-AWD-500 system. The MD-500’s multiple upgrade paths allow it to accept Mustang’s AWD upgrade in the future and also enable it to accept a second eddy current PAU for increased loading capability should you ever feel the need to expand your testing capabilities. With 1,500-hp measurement capacity, the MD-500 can handle high performance front wheel and rear wheel drive vehicles. If your shop caters to the motorcycle market too, the MD-500 series can be purchased with the optional motorcycle adaptor kit. The 500-SE offers a compact frame with a narrow 80-inch outer track and is great for shops with limited space that mainly focus on passenger cars and smaller pick up trucks.
