3U CompactPCI Serial Blades
ADLINK Technology Inc. (ADLINK)
The PICMG CPCI-S.0 CompactPCI Serial standard, which evolved from the PICMG 2.0 specification, is the fastest, most versatile, most cost-effective open standard for CompactPCI (CPCI). The Serial standard is mechanically and electronically compatible with 3U and 6U euro-cards, defining an interface for high-speed switched fabrics with a star topology. Point-to-point connectors allow up to eight peripherals on one system slot without switches or bridges. Ethernet data transfer can be configured with full mesh topology, which allows up to 1000Base-T connections to all peripheral slots for redundant, safety-critical systems.

CompactPCI Serial (PICMG CPCI-S.0) is a new modular computer standard officially adopted by PICMG in 2011. The Compact-PCI Serial standard defines a completely new connector to support high-speed serial interfaces including PCI Express, SATA, USB and Ethernet. The mechanical specification is fully compliant with PICMG 2.0 CompactPCI and interoperable with existing CompactPCI systems via hybrid backplanes. A CompactPCI Serial backplane has six high-speed connectors P1 to P6 on the system slot but only P1 is mandatory on peripheral slots, P2 to P6 being optional. A CompactPCI Serial system can comprise a total of nine blades (one system blade and eight peripheral I/O blades) through an Ethernet full mesh or single star architecture. The CompactPCI Serial standard is the next-generation of the CompactPCI specification and provides more flexibility and higher speed and bandwidth in modular system solutions.
