National Technical Systems
Around the world, solar and other renewable energy technologies are seeing widespread adoption in both residential and commercial applications. As prices drop, and governments continue to offer tax rebates and other incentives for switching from fossil fuels, the market for solar devices will continue to grow. With this growth, there will be an increased need for photovoltaic testing services to confirm new products meet consumer demands for safety and performance. A growing market is also likely to mean increased regulatory demands — something that will require sophisticated partnerships and industry expertise to keep up with.

PV8900 Series -
Keysight Technologies
Keysight’s photovoltaic (PV) simulator includes the hardware and software to test a single maximum power point tracking (MPPT) inverter accurately. Test PV voltages up to 2000 V and 60 A with a single supply. DG9000 Series software licenses are available to test string inverter with 4-, 8-, or 12-MPPT channels. Most string inverter solutions test one MPPT channel at a time — leading to test inaccuracies. Keysight's DG9000 advanced PV inverter software can test up to 12 MPPT channels simultaneously.

Metrel d.d.
MI 3108 EurotestPV is a combined photovoltaic tester and electrical installations safety tester. It enables complete testing of electrical installations according to EN 61557 standards and in addition performs all necessary tests required on single-phase photovoltaic (PV) installations. This includes all of the tests as required by EN 62446, but also includes I - U characteristic, Calculation of STC values as required by EN 61829 and power measurements on Inverter’s DC and AC sides.

Metrel d.d.
Photovoltaic electrical installation safety testing is a special area of electrical installation safety testing as it also entails tests and measurements on DC systems, which are relatively uncommon in most domestic, commercial and to a certain extent industrial environments. There is also the addition of photovoltaic-specific tests that are outside the realm of standard test and measurement procedures.

Keysight Technologies
The Keysight N8937APV and N8957APV photovoltaic array simulators are capable of testing PV inverters up to 1,500 V, enabling designers to participate in the recent industry shift to the higher voltage. They can quickly simulate I-V curve characteristics under different environmental conditions (temperature, irradiance, age, cell technology and more), enabling the user to quickly and comprehensively test their solar inverters.

P13894-011MA -
Hamamatsu Photonics K.K.
Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. has developed an uncooled InAsSb (indium arsenide antimonide) photovoltaic detector that offers high-speed and high-sensitivity detection of infrared light in the 3 to 11 micron wavelength range. This new device (part number: P13894-011MA) extends the upper limit of sensitivity of Hamamatsu’s InAsSb detectors from 8 microns to 11 microns, which will enable users to measure molecules that absorb longer wavelengths of light and thus analyze more compounds with a single device.

FT4310 -
HIOKI E.E. Corp
Hioki is pleased to announce the launch of the Bypass Diode Tester FT4310 for Photovoltaic Systems. The FT4310, which is designed to test bypass diodes in strings of crystalline photovoltaic cells, can be used to detect open and short-circuit faults in bypass diodes by string either in daylight or at night. The instrument is the first portable device capable of detecting bypass diode open faults in operating panels (without requiring the panels to be shielded from sunlight).

IKS Photovoltaik GmbH
It enables the direct conversion of sunlight into electrical energy through solar cells - that is why photovoltaics is one of the most popular sources of renewable energy; that is why solar power plants are increasingly being installed on the roofs of nurseries and schools. The aim is both to set an example and teach children about renewable sources of energy.
