Transcat stocks the decade boxes for your precision measurement applications. Using a series of resistors, capacitors or inductors, a decade box simulates electrical values. Switches are arranged in decades (sections of 10) where values from 0-9 are selected. Configured boxes can be substituted into a circuit as a component to determine the appropriate value for circuit operation. They can also be connected to input devices for testing. After connection to the decade box, a device should display a reading corresponding to the previously set box value. When technicians conduct a quality test to look for fiber optic cable breaks and light loss in your installed network you need to eliminate what is called the "Dead Zone". When testing fiber optic cable with an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), these launch boxes eliminate the "Dead Zone". Without a launch box it is difficult to measure the relative loss at the near end and far end of the patch panel connections.

OTDR measuring devices are used in various ways in fibre optic technology. They enable extensive characterisation of existing fibre optic cabling networks. The use of launch and receive fibres is advantageous when it comes to ensuring precise results evaluations. With bidirectional backscatter measurements with launch and receive fibres, the attenuation values of the first and last plug-in connection can be determined precisely by averaging and device dead zones can be avoided. Measuring device manufacturers recommend different lengths of launch and receives fibres to avoid “phantom reflections”. These launch and receive fibres are also subject to measuring equipment monitoring and should regularly undergo revision in accordance with the OTDR measuring devices. A good measurement result depends on the state and quality of the measuring equipment used. Diamond offers various types of launch and receive fibres, one with standard telecommunications connectors and the other with an outdoor connector for harsh environments.

The inductive motor control position sensor family detects the electrical position within one pole-pair of a rotating shaft and can be used for the motor commutation of a brush-less DC (BLDC) motor. Based on the inductive sensor technology, this family measures the coupling between an excitation coil (TX) and two receiver coils (RX) via a rotating target. The coils are executed as printed circuit coils and the rotating target is a simple punched metal part.
