The Eastern OptX Series 6000 Altimeter Test Set is designed to test and calibrate radar altimeter systems. The Series 6000 provides multiple, programmable delays with front panel and/or remote computer control. It features ultra wide bandwidth, low loss, high isolation, and high dynamic range. Able to simulate altitudes up to 50,000 feet, the test set operates from 4.2 to 4.4 GHz and offers altitude accuracy up to 0.1 %.

Each channel implements an 64K×16 FIFO and supports polling and/or interrupt driven operation.The M8K708 comes complete with Windows software, a C-driver software library including source code and may be used with Exalt, Excalibur’s Analysis and Laboratory Tools, a Windows monitoring application. The RR024 is designed for Radar Electronic Support (RES) and Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) applications where high performance and small size are of prime importance, with filtering, amplification, detection and pulse parameter measurement being combined into one multi-function unit. Four amplitude measurement channels allow direction finding by amplitude comparison between adjacent antennas. An IFM, fed from one of the amplitude channels via an SPDT switch, performs 14 bits of frequency measurement on the selected input. Frequency resolution is nominally 1 MHz over a 2 to 18 GHz band.

The annual testing of SART is recommended due to SOLAS regulation IV/15.8.The purpose of an annual testing is to determine that SART is operational as defined in appropriate performance standards for Survival Craft Radar Transponders for use in Search and Rescue Operations, IMO Resolution A.802 (19).Also Marine Orders require that a radar transponder must be inspected, tested and have its batteries replaced at intervals specified by its manufacturer.
