The Keysight 8474C is also very rugged with high resistance to ESD damage. The Keysight 8474C detector is available with a 3.5-mm (mates with SMA, 0.01 to 33 GHz) connector. This detector offers the options for optimal sqaure-law loads (Option 102) and for positive polarity output (option 103). These waveguide bandwidth detectors use silicon beam lead diodes on a planar stripline circuit to obtain an extremely rugged and compact device. Most millimeter wave broadband detectors have very poor VSWR due to the difficulty in obtaining a good wideband impedance match to the diode. To overcome this problem, these detectors utilize two diodes and an internal matched termination and 3 dB hybrid as shown below. This circuit allows a VSWR of 2.0 or better over a full waveguide bandwidth for most of these detectors. Detectors for waveguides WR-8 and smaller use a single zero bias GaAs diode. The high sensitivity zero bias GaAs diodes can also be special ordered for use at lower frequencies when highest sensitivity is required.

The Type RPD-2 Radio Frequency (RF) Proximity Detector is designed to detect and locate devices that radiate radio waves in the high frequency to low microwave frequency range. Such devices often include surveillance and “spy” equipment. The Type RPD-2, when used with the different sensors, will detect the emanation of the radio wave within a confined area, and then isolate its location to within approximately a square foot. The type RPD-2A may be used as an RF field strength indicator for antenna field strength measurements. The RPD-2A is identical in function except that the meter scale is calibrated in relative dB units.
