Integrating Sphere
The simpler way to measure the total luminous flux of lamps and luminaires is to use an integrating sphere photometer system. It is a device to perform spatial integration of flux optically, thus the total luminous flux can be measured with one fixed photometer head and measurement can be instant. An integrating sphere photometer is calibrated with a total luminous flux standard lamp. A test light source is measured by comparison to a standard lamp calibrated for total luminous flux.

The NI USB‑8451 is a master interface for connecting to and communicating with inter-integrated circuit (I2C), System Management Bus (SMBus), and serial peripheral interface (SPI) devices. With plug‑and‑play USB connectivity, the USB‑8451 is a portable solution to communicate with consumer electronics and integrated circuits. It also includes eight general-purpose digital I/O lines for a variety of applications, such as configuring the address of I2C devices or toggling LEDs. The appliance can also auto-load setup images for fast auto start-up, which would be ideal for simple RT applications that wouldn’t even need an API interface (just a standard UDP interface – usually through simple socket programming).
