The 96xx series DDS generators deliver the highest performance in both speed and resolution. The series includes produts between one and 24 synchronous channels. DDS – Direct Digital Synthesis – is a method for generating sine waves from a single, fixed-frequency reference clock and is widely used in signal generation applications. The DDS functionality implemented on Spectrum Instrumentation’s AWG platform is based on the principle of adding multiple “DDS cores” to generate a mul?ti-carrier (multi-tone) signal, with each carrier having its own well-defined frequency, amplitude and phase. In addition to these static parameters, there are also build in dynamic parameters like frequency slope and amplitude slope to allow for intrinsic linear changes for multiple cores.

It accepts up to eight differential or 16 single-ended analog inputs (jumper configured). AD8-16 requires a full-size expansion slot. All connections are made through a standard 50-pin connector. Base I/O address selection is via dip switch.Analog inputs are multiplexed, amplified, held by a sample and hold amplifier, and then digitized by an eight-bit A/D converter. Amplifier gain is selected by software and can differ from channel to channel.

The M2p.65xx series offers different versions of arbitrary waveform generators for PCI Express with a maximum output rate of 125 MS/s. These boards allow to generate freely definable waveforms on several channels synchronously. With one of the synchronization options the setup of synchronous multi channel systems is possible as well as the combination of arbitrary waveform generator with digitizers of the M2p product family. The 512 MSample on-board memory can be used as arbitrary waveform storage or as a FIFO buffer continuously stream data via the PCIe interface. Importantly, the high-resolution 16-bit DACs deliver four times the resolution than AWGs using older 14-bit technology.
