  • PXI 5A Fault Insertion Switch 5-Channel

    40-196-101 - Pickering Interfaces Ltd.

The 40-196 is a 10 Channel 5A Fault Insertion Switch, primarily designed for the simulation of fault conditions in automotive & avionics applications involving the reliability testing of safety critical controllers. It is designed to be able to insert different fault conditions between the test fixture and the equipment under test: Open-Circuit, Short-Circuit between signal pairs, Short-Circuit between signal pairs and user applied fault conditions e.g. Power or GND. Shorting relays on each channel enable UUT signals to be subjected to external user applied fault conditions or to be shorted to the adjacent signal in the same channel. Relays in line with the signal allow open circuit conditions to be simulated on either side or both sides of a channel signal pair. The switching topology of the 40-196 allows channels to be interconnected so that complex fault insertion systems can be constructed.

  • Bulk Current Monitoring Probe

    MP-50 - FRANKONIA GmbH

The Current Monitoring probes may be used whenever RF current measurements are required. Current measurements are made by placing a current carrying conductor within the “sensing” window of the probe and measuring the probe’s output voltage with an RF detector. Calibration of the probe permits the conversion of the voltages measured to current. Current measurements can be made over the frequency range shown in the transfer impedance curve furnished with each probe. There is virtually no loading of the circuit and the technique permits normal operation of the device under test during measurements. The MP-50 can be used for the procedure for clamp injection when the common- mode impedance requirements cannot be met given in chapter 7.4 of IEC/EN 61000-4-6 „Immunity to conducted disturbances, induced by radio frequency fields”. The MP-50 can also be used as current monitor for BCI testing as per ISO11452-4, RTCA/DO-160 section 20, MIL-STD-461 and various automotive standards.

  • Gravelometer Testing

    National Technical Systems

Gravelometer testing is designed to evaluate the resistance of vehicle surface coatings (paint, clear coats, metallic plating, etc.) to chipping caused by the impacts of gravel and other flying objects in accordance with SAE and ASTM standards. The primary usage of this test is to simulate the effects of the impact of gravel or other debris on automotive parts. Test samples are typically mounted in the back of the Gravelometer, and air pressure is used to project 1 pint (approximately 300 pieces) of gravel at the sample. The test sample is then removed and gently wiped off with a clean cloth. Tape is then applied to the entire tested surface. Removal of the tape then pulls off any loose fragments of the coating. The appearance of the tested sample is then compared to standard transparencies supplied by SAE to determine the chipping ratings. Visual examination can also be used to describe where in the coating/substrate system that the failure has been induced.

  • Measurement System For Testing & Binning Of Back-End LEDs

    TP121-TH - Gigahertz-Optik GmbH

The photometric specifications of LEDs must meet very high tolerance requirements regardless of whether they are to be used in general, automotive or other specialist lighting applications. This is often a problem since the manufacturing tolerances of LEDs can be higher than those permitted in the end-use applications. Also, LED binning by LED manufacturers in order to classify LEDs based on their tolerances is performed with flash mode testing using pulsed current flow. However, end-use applications of the LEDs often operate in constant current mode and with significant thermal effects. The sophisticated LED processing industry therefore requires measurement devices that can be used for both manufacturer-compliant pulsed mode, as well as constant current operation mode. When the LEDs are run in constant current mode, the junction temperature has significant influence on the performance and lifetime of the LED. Therefore, test systems should be able to test the LEDs at specific junction temperatures.

  • Production Test Stands for Electric Motors

    imc Test & Measurement GmbH

Electric drives such as DC and EC motors are more and more extensively deployed in the automotive industry. At the same time there is an increasing requirement for a 100% analysis of motors for fault detection and error analysis as well as statistics on quality, without increasing production cycles times. The model-based Parameter Identification method (PI method) from imc allows testing to be performed under load, yet without an “explicit” separate load machine. Instead, the motor is loaded dynamically by exploiting its own inherent inertia. This allows motor parameters such as resistance, inductivity and friction to be determined within a few seconds. A mathematical model and its parameters reflect motor behaviour in its completeness and make it possible to monitor motor production based on limit values and trend statistics. The identified parameters of the model equation can then be used to calculate derived key performance indicators of the motor characteristic curve.
