VXI stands for VME eXtensions for Instrumentation. It is an open standard first developed by five leading Test and Measurement companies in 1987 to standardise a backplane capable of developing open, interchangeable instrument modules that could be used to build Automatic Test Equipment (ATE).Data Patterns designs and markets a wide range of VXI modules, some of which are listed below. Due to the use of the latest technologies, Data Patterns VXI modules offer the highest I/O density available in the industry today.Further enhancements of functional capabilities are achieved by the use of VXI IP carriers and VXI M Module carriers. VXI IP Carrier Module

The Data Patterns DP-VXI-5124 is a VXI 'C' size Carrier Board, which occupies a single slot in the VXI system. The module is a register based device with A16/A24/A32 address space and has interrupter capability. The carrier board's VXI bus interface is used to program and monitor the carrier board registers for configuration and control of the board. The VXI bus interface is also used to communicate with and control the external devices that are connected to an IP modules field I/O signals.

ProDAQ 3180
The ProDAQ 3180 ultra-performance motherboard is a register-based VXIbus device supporting single-word transfer and block transfer of 16-bit and 32-bit words. It can be configured for both the A16 and A32 address space. The improved VXIbus interface of the ProDAQ 3180 is compatible to the VXI-1 Rev 4.0 standard and supports the 2eVME and 2eSST protocols, which allow for backplane transfers at data rates of up to 320 MB/s (theoretically). Depending on the slot-0 controller used, the ProDAQ 3180 can sustain data transfers up to 240 MB/s.
