CAMI Research Inc. (Acton, MA) announces another new board for its CableEye cable and harness testing systems. Populated with four 16-pole screw terminal blocks, the board addresses high voltage (HiPot) testing to 2100Vdc/1200Vac. Of particular interest to the harness testing market, the CB29H is also available as a transition board variant (CB29AH). The CB29H and CB29AH boards are high voltage versions of the CB29 with the high voltage traces running on inner layers to afford additional safety, and protection from contamination. Each contains four 16-pole screw terminal blocks that will accept bare wires from 12- to 30-gauge in size. The metal jaws firmly grip an inserted wire without damaging or distorting the end, and the space between each terminal block may be used as a wire channel to guide wires neatly to the side. For each channel, a pair of holes is provided through which wire ties may be inserted to hold the wire bundles in place.
An add-on option for the CableEye HVX high voltage cable tester series that permits expanded testing for contact and wire resistance as low as 1 mΩ. After checking for opens, shorts, miswires, and resistance limits, the 4-wire Kelvin measurement applies a user-selectable test current from 10 mA to 1 A to determine connection resistance within 1 mΩ. The resistance profile of a model cable may be stored and used as a basis of comparison during later testing to reveal cold solder joints, faulty crimps, recessed pins, pin contact contamination, improper wire gauge, and stress-extruded wire. This option may be purchased with any new HVX tester, or added as an upgrade to any of your existing HVX testers.
The CB52 is intended for periodic calibration verification of the Kelvin 4-wire resistance measurement module – an optional, add-on module that may be purchased with any new hipot system, or added to an existing high voltage tester as an upgrade. To ensure that 4-wire resistance measurements remain accurate, CAMI recommends running the verification check every quarter. A 4-wire measurement module that is out of calibration will give inaccurate results. Some (maybe all) resistance measurements will be incorrect. Consequently, it may Pass what should Fail and, conversely, Fail what should Pass. In other words product yield will be contaminated due to unreliable measurements.
CAMI Research Inc. (Acton, MA) announces another new board for its CableEye cable and harness testing systems. Populated with solder pads to accept both aligned and staggered, 1.25mm and 1.5mm pitch, surface mount and through hole (TH) connectors, the board addresses any market with a demand for board-to-board connections. Rated to 700Vdc/500Vac, the CB51 may be used on all CableEye models. The CB51, sold without connectors, contains four sets of 60 solder pads accommodating numerous configurations of surface mount and TH connectors aligned or staggered pins at 1.25mmm and 1.5mm pitch. There are four preset locations for automatic detection & display of any-pin-count connector up to 60-pins. Yet, any single set may be fitted with any combination of lower pin count connectors that total to 60 or less (e.g. a 40-pin with a 10-pin). Connectors soldered in non-preset positions will also appear graphically correct once they are mapped with PinMap (optional software).
CAMI Research Inc. (Acton, MA) has released a High-Voltage (HV)-rated QuickMount housing (CBH2) for its CableEye automation-ready, cable and wire harness testing systems. As a free-standing, quick-release board fixture, it allows users to connect CAMI’s test interface boards to the 64-pin headers of any expansion module - even at some distance. The housing may be used with any CableEye model and is rated to 2100 Vdc / 1500 Vac.
Populated with precision resistors, it allows users to determine empirically whether the tester requires calibration. The CB50 may be used on all CableEye models. The CB50 is intended for periodic verification of tester calibration. To ensure that resistance measurements remain accurate, CAMI recommends yearly calibration. However, depending on environmental conditions and usage, testers may need calibrating more or less frequently. Certain components within models M3U, M3UH, HVX, and HVX-21 (i.e. those capable of measuring resistance) are analog components whose characteristics change slightly over time. This aging is a natural phenomenon common to all electronic components and may cause resistance measurements or gradually deviate from normal. A tester that is out of calibration will give inaccurate results. Some (maybe all) resistance measurements will be incorrect. Consequently, it may Pass what should Fail and, conversely, Fail what should Pass. In other words product yield will be contaminated due to unreliable quality.
Populated with solder pads to accept a suite of TE-Connectivity Micro-MaTch connectors, this board addresses markets plagued by vibration and fretting corrosion, and requiring "miniaturized connectivity". Rated to 500Vdc/350Vac, the CB49 may be used on all CableEye models. The CB49, sold without connectors, contains nine sets of 20 solder pads accommodating numerous configurations of Micro-MaTch connectors. There are nine preset locations for automatic detection & display of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20-pin connectors. Yet, any single set may be fitted with any combination of lower pin count connectors that total to 20 or less (e.g. a 14-pin with a 4-pin). Connectors soldered in non-preset positions will also appear graphically correct once they are mapped with PinMap (optional software). Sold as a set of two boards, each Micro-MaTch test board may be paired with other CableEye adapter boards to accommodate any combination of connectors.
Our Light Director™ system (patented) provides a computer-guided technique for assembling connectors used in aerospace, medical, and other high-reliability applications. This system uses light fibers driven by super-bright LED lamps to individually illuminate target cavities in the connector being assembled. When the technician enters the wire code printed on unconnected wires, or touches a wire connected at the other end, the CableEye software turns on the appropriate fiber, thereby causing a bright, flashing light to project from inside the target cavity guiding the technician to the proper insertion point. Correct insertion is confirmed by the elimination of light from that location, whereas insertion into an incorrect location leaves the flashing light visible.
A USB Type-C test interface board for CableEye cable and harness testing systems. Consisting of a daughter board, populated with two USB-C female connectors, it allows users to continuity-check USB Type-C terminated cables using the CableEye tester while seeing the connectors-under-test rendered graphically. The CB26U fits all CableEye models.ConfigurationA leader in development of PC-based cable and wire harness, continuity, resistance and hipot test systems for over 20 years, CAMI offers the CableEye suite of products complete with accessories – including “connector boards”. The selection of these test fixture boards is constantly growing and is currently numbering over 60 – most of which are populated with ‘families’ of connectors. When pre-populated boards are used, the tester GUI automatically displays a graphic of the connectors under test.Sold as a set of two boards, each CB26U accepts two USB Type-C connectors. In addition to the latest CableEye software, it requires the CB26 small-frame motherboard (Item 756) for operation, and plugs into one of two available slots – two USB-C-connectors can be tested simultaneously. The CB26 (with CB26U) attaches to the tester like a regular connector board.WarrantyAll connector boards are included in CableEye’s standard, renewable one-year warranty of the tester for which it was purchased.Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or +1 (978) 266-2655 for a quote.

Our optional, add-on AutoBuild™ software (Item 728) offers Guided Assembly for cables and wire harnesses. Use a supplied probe, or a finger with wrist strap, to touch an unterminated wire and the software shows (and says) exactly where the wire should be connected. As the operator attaches each new wire, AutoBuild checks the entire assembly and provides a clear checklist showing all completed good connections. When using our resistance-capable testers, you may connect diodes and resistors by name and value, check resistance values over the tester's specified range, and test conduction and isolation resistance against specified thresholds. Programmable tones accompany the graphic screen to give clear signals to the operator when good connections are completed or when incorrect connections, resistance violations, or diode insertions are detected. Combine with our Light Director™ option for light-guided assembly.
