Event Detector
The Event Detector automatically extracts sound events from an entire sound file according to the user's event specifications. The user digitizes sound data into a continuous sound file, then configures the Event Detector for the events of interest. Detection is based on spectral, temporal, and amplitude criteria. The detector scans the entire file, identifying the desired events and extracting them to individual sound files or measuring their parameters. Detected events can be immediately analyzed in SIGNAL to measure, count, compare, classify, time-stamp, and store sound events and sound parameters. The Event Detector is a module inside SIGNAL and requires SIGNAL to operate.

The fire industry’s most popular range of detector test equipment is about to get even better. Solo, the test equipment used world-wide to functionally test fire detectors has a new tester in its range – Solo 365. This exciting innovation provides fire safety professionals with an array of stand-out features which make for faster, simpler and cleaner functional testing of smoke detectors. Key features include automatic generation of smoke which ensures only the amount of smoke needed to activate the detector is produced – minimizing smoke wastage and eliminating the risk of detector contamination. In addition, Solo 365 is light in weight and has a slim-line design which allows easy access into tight spaces – making it possible to test detectors which are hard to access with other portable testers. In response to market feedback, Solo 365 features an LED torch which automatically illuminates when light levels drop, making for easy detector alignment and testing in dark environments. Smoke is generated via newly designed smoke cartridges which fit neatly into the rear of the tester. The Knopp 4E2-1 Voltage Tester is designed to detect electrical potential (voltage) between the third rail and ground on high voltage electrified transit systems. Two, redundant neon bulbs are used to indicate the presence of voltage. The prod handle and the tester housing are both made from moisture- and oil-resistant laminated phenolic. The prod tips are made from stainless steel. The tester housing includes a rubber hand guard to guide the operator in proper placement of his or her hand. There are no exposed metal parts other than to the two prod tips. All internal connections are soldered.
