Each absorber, or brake, can hold up to 600-hp (total power of 1,800-hp) more than enough to simulate a fully loaded transit bus. As the systems PAU''s (brakes) are air-cooled, no water is required to or from the device eliminating the high cost of water consumption and/or the cost of an expensive water recovery system which can sometimes exceed the cost of the dynamometer system itself. The 75D4-H2 is a Layer 2+ Gigabit Ethernet Switch built upon NAI’s multifunction, 3U cPCI board technology. The 75D4 motherboard contains a high-density I/O module slot that supports an H2 switch function. The 75D4 with H2 consumes approximately 9.5 W of total power at 5 V to operate at full 1000 Base-T speeds. In addition, the 75D4 motherboard can integrate four channels of RS232/423/422/485 serial communications. This adds an additional 1.5 W of 5 V power. Serial data is available on the cPCI bus or can optionally be available over Ethernet via the use of one of the switch ports.

The LTC®2992 is a rail-to-rail system monitor that measures current, voltage, and power of two supplies. It features an operating range of 2.7V to 100V and includes a shunt regulator for supplies above 100V. The voltage measurement range of 0V to 100V is independent of the input supply. Two ADCs simultaneously measure each supply’s current. A third ADC monitors the input voltages and four auxiliary external voltages. Each supply’s current and power is added for total system consumption. Minimum and maximum values are stored and an overrange alert with programmable thresholds minimizes the need for software polling. Data is reported via a standard I2C interface. Shutdown mode reduces current consumption to 25μA typically.
