Visual instructions are clearly printed on the case. When activated, the rescueME PLB1 will transmit accurate position data from its 66 channel GPS for a minimum of 24 hours while the integrated strobe light ensures maximum visibility.Ocean Signal has ensured that rescueME, like all of its other safety products, exceeds statutory requirements. RescueME PLB provides an incredible 7 year battery life, and is covered by a 7 year warranty. Even after more than 24 hours of continuous operation, and when the battery power is insufficient to transmit the satellite signal, the PLB1's homing beacon and strobe light will continue to operate. This high intensity strobe light features a molded lens to enhance the visibility of its efficient LED and it gives a powerful 1 candela light emission.Self-test of the PLB can be carried out with a simple button press with the start of test and results clearly indicated by a green flashing light. The antenna is easily extended like a normal tape measure and can be retracted using the winding mechanism on the top of the unit. Using the correct frequency makes a world of difference when locating buried utilities. The depth of the utility, size, material, and amount of congestion (proximity of other utilities) all need to be taken into consideration for the correct frequency selection. Large diameter, direct buried pipes with bell housing ends that use insulators and rubber gaskets, such as water or gas require a higher frequency while smaller diameter, well-grounded direct buried or long distance in conduits work, better with a lower frequency. The VM-850 operates at a much lower frequency of 9.82kHz which is ideal for smaller diameter utilities such as CATV, power and telephone with less bleeding onto adjacent services.

The 40-195 is a 22 Channel Fault Insertion Switch, primarily designed for the simulation of fault conditions in automotive & avionics applications involving the reliability testing of safety critical controllers. It is designed to be able to insert different fault conditions on pairs of signals between the test fixture and the equipment under test: Open-Circuit, Short-Circuit between signal pairs, Short-Circuit between signal pairs and user applied fault conditions e.g. Power or GND. Relays in-line with the signal paths allow open circuit conditions to be simulated on either side or both sides of a signal pair. Relays between each channel pair enable adjacent signals to be shorted, and relays between signal paths and the "Fault" connection allow the application of external user applied fault conditions.
