The LTX-5525 conveys sixteen independent channels of digital information over a fibre optic link ranging from metres to more than 10 kilometres. Each of the 16 incoming TTL channels is sampled 100 million times per second, multiplexed and transmitted serially over an optical fiber at two gigabits per second. The receiver acquires this digital data and de-multiplexes it to 16 separate output ports.

The DDS8p generates cosine, sine and ACMOS/TTL output signals. The frequency is programmable in 1µHz steps from 100Hz to 120MHz. The phase is 14-bit programmable. The DDS8p is controlled by a binary parallel interface that allows frequency and phase changes as fast as 600 nanoseconds. It is accurate to 1ppm and requires 5 VDC power.

The system uses a high-performance NI CompactRIO controller to simultaneously register 24 analog signals, receive an accurate digital pulse from GPS and synchronize measurements.The video signal is recorded using a high-speed camera connected to an NI PCIe-1433 frame grabber. The information received from the camera and the recording device is transmitted to a server built on the basis of an industrial computer, which writes data to an external 12-disk RAID array.
