This module has 32 two pole relays arranged as four separate 8x1 multiplexers as shown in the figure. The muxes may be operated and wired individually for up to 64 8x1's per chassis, or jumpered together to form 16x1's or 32x1's or jumpered to the backplane to form up to a 512x1 mux or two 256x1 muxes. It is available with Type A, Armature relays only.

Typical applications for this high density matrix include signal routing in Functional ATE and data acquisitionsystems. These PXI matrix cards are constructed using high reliability rutheniumelectro-plated reed relays, offering >10e8 operations to give maximum switchingconfidence with long life and stable contact resistance. Larger matrices may be constructed by Daisy Chaining the common signals from multiple PXI modules. For example, 7 PXI modules will form a 168x8 Matrix, a total of 1344 crosspoints in a 7-slot PXI Chassis. All 40-521 series modules are fitted with reed relays (ruthenium sputtered type), these offer very long life with good low level switching performance and excellent contact resistance stability.Spare Reed Relays are built onto the circuit board to facilitate easy maintenance with minimum downtime.

The Keysight 34937A is a general-purpose switch module for the 34980A Multifunction Switch/Measure Unit. It has 28 independent single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) 1A relays and 4 single-pole, single-throw (Form A) 5A relays.
