Preamplifiers
Com-Power broadband high gain preamplifiers were designed for electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing and certification. EMC test labs use preamplifiers to improve sensitivity of the test system during EMI radiated emissions measurements. Without a high gain preamplifier, signals picked by the antenna that have amplitudes below the noise floor of the test system cannot be measured. The preamplifier gain has minimum variations for the entire operating frequency range for accurate emissions measurements. The Com-Power preamplifiers were primarily intended for EMC applications. However, it can be used for other applications that require signal amplification.

Preamplifiers
LNA Series
Low noise amplifier with 12.5 dB of gain covering the nominal frequency range 1 MHz to 3 GHz and can be used in the range from 200 kHz to 4 GHz. With its high gain and low noise figure, it will significantly increase the sensitivity of virtually all spectrum analyzers and other RF measuring instruments. All measuring instruments have a 'noise figure', which is a measure of how good the instrument is at measuring low level signals, the lower this figure, the better, although the lowest signal level will still be governed by the measurement bandwidth. A typical spectrum analyzer may have a noise figure of 20 dB or more, whereas a typical receiver may have a noise figure of 10 dB. The preamplifier has a noise figure of typically 4 dB, significantly enhancing the low level performance of such instruments, enabling signals that were previously masked by noise to be seen.

Modern Prepolarized Precision Condenser Microphones & Preamplifiers
Modern prepolarized microphones are designed with newer technology than traditional externally polarized microphones. Prepolarized microphones have many advantages over the externally polarized models. They use ICP® power circuitry invented for sensors by PCB®. By applying a polymer coating to the top of the backplate and embedding a charge on it, expensive 200V power supplies can be eliminated and 2-20 mA constant current supplies or signal conditioners can be used as the power source.

Low Noise Differential Preamplifiers
Provide a high gain amplification to 1MHz with an AC output derived from a very low noise FET instrumentation amplifier. Each model has fixed gain settings of x1 (0dB), x10 (20dB), x100 (40dB) and x1000 (60dB) over a selectable bandwidths of 100Hz, 1kHz (HP), 3kHz, 30kHz, 100kHz and 1MHz (7000 model only). Noise referred to input is 7nV√Hz and common mode rejection is >100dB at 1kHz. Momentary pushbutton switches are provided that control coupling, bandwidth, gain and channel on/off selections. BNC connectors are provided for single-ended and differential input, ac output, and dc output (optional) connections.

The SG1000 Signal Generator and PR1000A Preamplifier have been designed to simplify the measurement of shielding integrity in a shielded enclosure. When coupled with a high stability spectrum analyzer and an appropriate selection of test antennas, the SG1000/PR1000A combination can measure shielding effectiveness at all of the NSA 94-106 (supersedes NSA 65-6) defined test frequencies from 1 kHz to 10 GHz.The PR1000A amplifies the received signal from the test antenna and overcomes the high noise figure of the companion test receiver or spectrum analyzer. The XR-100CR is a new high performance x-ray detector, preamplifier, and cooler system using a thermoelectrically cooled Si-PIN photodiode as an xray detector. Also mounted on the 2-stage cooler are the input FET and a novel feedback circuit. These components are kept at approximately -55 °C, and are monitored by an internal temperature sensor. The hermetic TO-8 package of the detector has a light tight, vacuum tight thin Beryllium window to enable soft xray detection. The XR-100T-CdTe represents a breakthrough in xray detector technology by providing “off-the-shelf” performance previously available only from expensive cryogenically cooled systems. The XR-100-CdTe is also suited for measuring gamma rays.
