The MM39 is an auto-ranging multimeter with a large rotary switch for easy selection of the required test, even when wearing gloves. There are two test buttons, one to lock the range and the other to hold the results which are displayed on a 3½ digit LCD screen.

The main test functions are AC voltage and DC voltage and current and resistance. The MM39 measures both AC and DC voltage between 0.1mV to 600V and AC and DC current between 10mA to 10A. There is a diode test and an audible continuity test which sounds at less than 25Ω.

Barcodes became commercially successful when they were used to automate checkout systems at grocery stores, with the very first scanning of the Universal Product Code (UPC) on a pack of Wrigley Company chewing gum in June 1974. The 1U647-001 is a low cost calibration standard used to determine if a 1U632-100 or a 1U663-100 DMU requires factory calibration. Its portability makes it ideal for field-testing. The standard generates signals that simulate the aircraft’s resolvers, rotary variable transformers (RVTs), and linear variable displacement transformers (LVDTs). The unit also generates a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal, and routes the output of an ARINC 429 source to the different DMU input channels. The calibration standard connects directly to the DMU and replaces the output signals of an active extender card. Discrete switch settings simplify testing. The unit is housed in a rugged aluminum case.
