High Voltage Surge Current Monitors

Designed to be used with the Model HVST High Voltage Surge tester. The Surge Current Monitor allows simultaneously surge testing 20 units. The Surge Current Monitor monitors the current going through each unit under test at the time of the surge. If a unit under test breaks down or leaks, the Surge Current Monitor will identify the bad unit by lighting the corresponding LED. The most important features of the surge tester are its ability to test the entire winding insulation system. A high voltage surge generates turn to turn, coil to coil, and phase to phase voltage stress, as well as ground insulation stress. When used as a dielectric test, accurate voltage readings are essential. The HV Surge Tester monitors the voltage directly across the winding under test. In production testing we expect that most of the time the devices will pass. In the event that one should fail, the failed device would be removed and then all the parts would have ot undergo another surge test. Since most devices pass most of the time, simultaneous surge testing can be a real time saver.

The SST-HV is a Plug & Play Smart TEDS IEEE 1451.4 compliant Transmitter. Just plug in a TEDS compatible Load Cell or Torque Sensor and the SST-HV will automatically self-calibrate. When used with a non-TEDS Load Cell or Torque Sensor, the SST-LV Transmitter is easily programmed using a PC with an RS232 port and Instrument Setup (IS) software, which provides a graphical user interface. The SST-HV may be powered from 95-240 Vac ±10%. The SST-HV has an Isolated transducer excitation output that is selectable between 5Vdc or 10Vdc. There are Dual solid state relays and an Isolated 4-20 mA, 0-20 mA or 0-10V analog output. There are three Isolated serial data transmitter output ( RS232 , Half-duplex RS485, full-duplex RS485 ) and three serial protocols that are software selectable (Modbus RTU, Modbus ASCII and Custom ASCII). Isolation to 250V rms is provided for power, signal input, analog output, relay outputs, and communications. Isolation adds safety and avoids possible ground loops. The transducer excitation output is isolated to 50V from signal ground.

FSHV offers three different types of AC voltage test systems, the conventional type is AC test transformer design, mainly for testing objects of medium & low capacitance products, particularly for tests requiring stable voltage even if the load changes under voltage (corona, wet & pollution tests) or when the load is inductive (like inductive voltage transformers). Another is AC resonant test systems, according to series resonance circuit XL=XC (2πfL=1/2πfC), by setting F frequency of power supply or L inductance of reactor, generate a pure sinusoidal waveform of the test voltage, and the required input power is only 1/Q. Variable frequency type operates in a frequency range from 20Hz to 300Hz, ideal for field commissioning test of power cables and GIS/GIL.
