The EXC-4000 carrier board series was developed to meet the needs of avionic testers for multi-protocol integrated, digital bus testing. Modules may be selected out of a growing list which currently includes MIL-STD-1553/1760, MMSI, H009, ARINC-429, ARINC-708/453, Serial (232/422/485), Discrete and CAN bus. Additionally, an IRIG B decoder implements a global time stamp relative to the IRIG B pulses. The need for higher density, different protocols, and multi-channel on one integrated test card has made the EXC-4000 series very successful.

M4KH009 modules can operate as a Central Computer Complex (CCC) and/or up to sixteen Peripheral Units (PUs) simultaneously, or as a Bus Monitor. In addition, a Concurrent Bus Monitor enables concurrent monitoring of the bus during CCC and PU simulation. The module also supports error injection and detection, and all control parameters and data may be updated in real time. Note: The M4KH009 Module is a "double size" module, and occupies two vertically adjacent sockets in the EXC-4000 carrier Board.

The module supports 20 discretes. The user can set each discrete:• Either as input or output.• Either to TTL (0 – 5V) or Avionics (0 – 32V) voltage levels and• Either enable or disable external debounceOutput discretes are open collector, capable of handling up to 32V with a maximum current of 100 mA each. There is a 4092 word FIFO, capable of storing 1023 Discrete entries containing the discrete data and Time tags.

In transmit mode, the module operates via a transmit Bandwidth Frame which allows scheduling of data transmissions and reduces the need for host computer intervention.

The module supports 10Mhz, 100Mhz and 1Ghz Full Duplex UDP/IP Ethernet.The receive channels allow for the storage of all packets to all MAC and IP addresses with status and Time Tag information appended to each packet. The receivers allow for filtering based on MAC address, IP address and UDP port. The transmit channels enable the user to define a Bus list which controls timing and order of packets without host intervention or immediate mode which enables the host to transmit packets at will.

The M8KH009 provides a complete solution for developing and testing H009 interfaces and performing system simulation of the H009 bus, according to the standard H009 protocol. Each module of the M8KH009 contains 32K x 16 dualport RAM for Data Blocks, control registers, and Look-up tables. In addition, the module contains another 32K x 16 dual-port RAM for a Concurrent Monitor. All data blocks and control registers are memory mapped, and may be accessed in real-time. Each of the independent, dual-redundant M8KH009 modules may be programmed to operate in one of three modes of operation: Central Control Complex (CCC) mode with Concurrent Peripheral Unit operation (1–16 PUs), Peripheral Unit mode (Multiple – up to 16 PUs) and Bus Monitor mode. In addition, the module can simultaneously operate as an independent Internal Concurrent Monitor in CCC, Multiple PU or CCC/Concurrent PU modes.
