Kobold Instruments, Inc.

KOBOLD Messring GmbH, a world-leading instrumentation engineering business, was founded in Germany in 1980 by Klaus J. Kobold. His engineering expertise quickly established the company in the global marketplace with patented technology, high quality products and superior service. The KOBOLD brand name soon became synonymous with superior quality and technological advancement in sensor and control instrumentation. In the following years, independent KOBOLD companies were established in numerous countries worldwide, including KOBOLD Instruments Inc. in the United States in 1989. The international group of KOBOLD companies is still led today by its president and sole proprietor Klaus Kobold.

  • Deep-Well Level Probe

NTB Series - Kobold Instruments, Inc.

The KOBOLD NTB Series deep-well level probe offers a cost-effective solution for hydrostatic level measuring in wells, reservoirs, clarification plants and other water-holding vessels. It is easy to install and ideally suited for monitoring and protecting submersible pumps in deep water wells. The slim, 22mm-diameter level probe is perfect for tight applications.

  • Level Measurement

    Kobold Instruments, Inc.

Displacer level gauge for liquids from KOBOLD Instruments operates on the Archimedes principle. The level gauge's displacer tube rests inside the tank and is connected to the measuring unit via a spring. As liquid level increases, the buoyant forces of the liquid act on the displacer tube to reduce spring tension, allowing the spring to expand. The spring connects to a magnetic actuator, and the motion of the actuator is picked up by a magnetically linked indicator to yield the tank level measurement. The displacer level gauge is calibrated at the factory for the user's specified liquid density. Special designs with higher pressure or temperature ratings, as well as those made of exotic materials, are always available on request.

  • Level Monitoring

    Kobold Instruments, Inc.

Magnetic level switches are used for the monitoring and control of liquid level in tanks. These level switches are specifically manufactured to customer specifications. The float switches are manufactured with a hermetically sealed contact which is located within the guide tube. The float sliding on the tube contains a ring magnet which activates the sealed contact in a non-contacting fashion. The sealed contacts are available as SPST (N/O or N/C) or SPDT (N/O + N/C). The float sliding up and down on the guide tube is the only moving part on the M-series magnetic float switches.

  • Pressure Switches

    Kobold Instruments, Inc.

Pressure switches are built for industrial gas and compatible low-viscosity fluid applications. These pressure-operated switches are ideal for uses demanding a rugged, robust design. Environmental protection is provided by a high-grade IP67 (NEMA 6) enclosure, and the internal design provides excellent resistance to shock and vibration. Both the KAS and KPS Series feature SPDT switches with a DC contact rating of 125V, 12W. The KAS Series pressure switch has an AC contact rating of 250V, 0.1A inductive load. The KPS Series pressure switch has an AC contact rating of 440V, 6A inductive load and 440V, 10A resistive load. Many conventional, as well as some unconventional, requirements for outdoor and indoor use are covered by KOBOLD KAS and KPS Series pressure switches.

  • Pressure Transmitters

    Kobold Instruments, Inc.

Explosion-proof pressure transmitter is approved for use in hazardous locations per CSA Standard 30 and UL Standard 1203 for Class 1, Division 1 and Division 2 hazardous locations. Wetted parts are all 316L Stainless Steel (50 up to 10000 PSIG), 17-4PH (15000 & 20000 PSIG) for compatibility with a variety of media. Wetted materials and construction comply with the NACE MR0175 Standard. The KP46 Series explosion-proof pressure transmitter's fitting and sensing diaphragm are machined out of a single piece of material, so there are no welds, seams or O-ring seals, resulting in excellent long-term performance and stability. The case is factory sealed, making this pressure transmitter very rugged with excellent shock and vibration resistance.

  • Temperature Sensors and Temperature Controls

    Kobold Instruments, Inc.

KOBOLD manufactures a variety of instruments for temperature monitoring and temperature measurement, such as temperature switches, including thermal reed temperature switches and temperature switches for liquids, temperature gauges, temperature transmitters, temperature sensors and temperature probes.

  • Portable or Stationary Ultrasonic Flowmeter for Liquids

    DUC - Kobold Instruments, Inc.

Two ultrasonic clamp-on transducers are externally mounted on a pipe and produce an acoustic path. The transducers send and receive acoustic signals and their transit times are measured by an electronic flow transmitter. The signal is accelerated by the flow in the forward direction. The return signal is decelerated by the flow in the opposite direction. The difference in time between the two, together with the path length L, can be used to determine the average flow velocity. This principle is known as the acoustic time-of-flight principle.

  • Pressure Gauges

    Kobold Instruments, Inc.

Diaphragm pressure gauges feature stainless steel construction for superior chemical and corrosion resistance for your intermediate pressure measurement applications. Because of the protective diaphragm seal design, these pressure gauges are ideal for use with viscous as well as corrosive fluids. Optionally, these diaphragm pressure gauges may be ordered with glycerine filling to help dampen the effects of machine vibration and pulsation of the media.

  • Flow Indicators

    Kobold Instruments, Inc.

Flow indicator with rotor features a self-cleaning mechanism to ensure full visibility of the rotor at all times. Typical sight flow indicators suffer from poor indicator visibility through normal use from build-up that impedes observation of the rotor through the viewing window. Typically, for a sight flow indicator to be cleaned, it must be removed from the pipeline, cleaned and then replaced at some specified time, such as during plant shutdown. Unfortunately, dirt build-up does not typically schedule itself to correspond with planned shutdowns. Enter the KOBOLD DAA Series flow indicator. Simply twist the sight glass and the integral wipers clean the flow indicator's viewing area to allow unobstructed observation of the rotor. The offending contaminants are then simply washed away by the media flow. This process may be repeated as often as desired with no fuss and no downtime. The DAA is available with brass or stainless steel fittings with " to 1" NPT female threads. The DAA is also available without a rotor for observation of fluid condition.
