  • Product Reliability Testing

    National Technical Systems

NTS performs product reliability hardware testing to ensure that the quality and durability of a given product is consistent with its specifications throughout the product’s intended lifecycle. This testing can be done at both the design and production levels.

  • Printed Circuit Board Testing: Qualification, Acceptance and Conformance

    National Technical Systems

PCB testing, or printed circuit board testing, begins with understanding that the PCB is the foundation for any printed circuit assembly (PCA).The circuit board is a top quality product that should not cause your end product to cost you money due to failures and recalls. NTS is an internationally accredited test laboratory approved for PCB testing including the bare PCB, the raw materials that the PCB is comprised of, as well as the finished PCA. The most commonly used PCB testing performance specifications for qualification, acceptance, and/or conformance are IPC-6012, IPC-6013, IPC-6016, IPC-6018, MIL-PRF-55110, MIL-P-50884, or MIL-PRF-31032.

  • Plastics, Polymers & Rubber Materials Testing

    National Technical Systems

Advanced Polymers & Rubbers Materials have broad, proven applications, in the aircraft, aerospace, and sports equipment sectors. More specifically, APMs are very attractive for aircraft and aerospace structural parts. APMs have continued to develop due to NASA’s Advanced Space Transportation Program. Additionally, advanced polymer materials have decades of history in military and government aerospace industries. However, much of the technology is now being developed for secondary or commercial markets, as the technology of advanced plastics manufacture is continually evolving.NTS has the capabilities to assess the mechanical strength and integrity of these materials and provide you with the data required to evaluate the performance of the product applications.

  • Performance Testing

    National Technical Systems

NTS can perform testing to evaluate the performance of your product. Benchmarking, load/stress testing and scalability all fall under the umbrella of performance testing. Performance and benchmark testing typically includes evaluating a hardware or software product to determine how effective it is at performing its functionality, whatever that may be. For example, a graphics adapter can be measured in frames per second in a popular game, number of smooth shaded triangles per second or similar measures. Comparing the performance of multiple products against each other typically falls under the heading of “competitive analysis testing.”

  • Protective Systems Testing: Ballistic Resistant and Stab Resistant Materials

    National Technical Systems

The ability of military-grade personal protective equipment (PPE) to withstand a ballistic impact is critical. Proper testing is a requirement of any product covered by MIL-H, MIL-STD, NIJ and other regulatory standards. National Technical Systems (NTS) — one of the largest networks of testing labs in the country — performs industry-leading destructive material testing out of its Wichita, Kansas and Chesapeake, Maryland locations. Staffed by expert engineers who can develop a comprehensive testing routine for your product, NTS is a key partner to the defense contractors whose products are keeping American troops and law enforcement officials safe around the world.

  • RF Wireless Testing

    National Technical Systems

NTS conducts wireless RF regulatory testing as well as RF immunity testing under its EMC/EMI capabilities. Also, we are capable of RF data record/playback in our RFR series of systems designed to support RF testing in applications where the source signal is not readily available in the lab where units must be tested.

  • Pyrotechnic Shock Testing

    National Technical Systems

Pyroshock testing is an important part of the design and certification processes for military contractors, aerospace manufacturers and other organizations. To meet these requirements, NTS offers a variety of pyroshock testing services.

  • Quality Assurance Testing

    National Technical Systems

During difficult economic times, one of the first things that seems to get cut back is the quality assurance testing. Although quality assurance is often listed in the unimportant category, it can make a huge impact in your product and your company’s overall revenue and success. The fewer bugs your product ships with, the more your savings. In fact, the cost of fixing anomalies during the design and implementation phase of your development will be less than a quarter of what it will cost once your product has been released. It’s not the job of your customers to identify and test your products for you – unless you’d really like to alienate them and lose their future business. All it takes is one other vendor with a more stable, better designed product to cause your market share to drop like a rock (see WordPerfect vs. Word).

  • Peel Strength Testing

    National Technical Systems

Peel Strength Testing is the average load per unit width of bond line required to separate bonded materials where the angle of separation is 180⁰. Peel testing is one way to characterize adhesive bonds. It is used extensively to evaluate the bonding strength of tape, adhesives and flexible substrates, including rubber, films, biomaterials, dental materials, medical packaging and consumables. Typical tests involve peeling two bonded flexible adhered from each other, or peeling a flexible bonded adhered from a rigid substrate. Peel tests are usually conducted at a constant rate at various angles, with 90° and 180° being the most common. Parameters such as peak peel load, average peel strength and statistical measures of peel strength variability are typically used to characterize behavior under peel loading.

  • Pressure Impulse Testing

    National Technical Systems

Hydraulic systems can be found in on- and off-road vehicles, aircraft, heavy equipment and many other machines and devices. Being able to accurately predict the lifespan of hoses and other wear items in a hydraulic system is of critical importance, both for determining appropriate service intervals and for reducing your liability.

  • Shock Testing

    National Technical Systems

Shock testing of products and materials determines to what degree items can physically and functionally withstand relatively infrequent, short time, moderately high-level force impulses or temperature changes that would be encountered in handling, transportation, and service environments. Vibration testing, on the other hand, determines the extent to which items can withstand mechanical vibrations.

  • Product Safety Testing

    National Technical Systems

Safety testing is about more than just maintaining compliance and limiting your liability — it’s about delivering a superior product for your customers. Whether you manufacture goods for the consumer, military, aerospace or any other market, NTS can help with this essential stage of the quality assurance process. For more than half a century, we have been committed to delivering product testing services to some of the most demanding clients worldwide.

  • Insensitive Munitions Testing

    National Technical Systems

In addition to its multiple open test ranges/arenas, the Camden facility has over 35,000 square feet of enclosed climatic conditioning area and facility space. This allows for sequential or simultaneous Safety series and IM testing of AA&E items. This extensive facility infrastructure allows NTS to conduct parallel projects and tests for expedient testing of multiple items.

  • Highly Accelerated Thermal Shock (HATS2™) Testing

    National Technical Systems

NTS is the exclusive provider of HATS2™testing services in North America. Thermal shock testing has long been the accepted method to check robustness and reliability of plated-through holes and solder joint connections. Historically, thermal shock testing has been performed utilizing either dual chamber air-to-air systems or liquid-to-liquid systems. Both of these methods offer significant disadvantages in cost, time, and the fact that the samples must be transported between the hot and cold environments. Transportation of the samples between the temperature environments makes monitoring the resistance of the samples difficult and inaccurate due to the length and quantity of wires. The infrequent monitoring typically associated with traditional thermal shock methods also makes detection of “glitch” conditions marginal at best.
