Lumistar designs and manufactures telemetry products for the flight test and antenna tracking communities. Board level products are manufactured with PCI, PCIe, cPCI bus interfaces as well as continuing support of ISA and VME legacy products. Lumistar products are also available without a PC interface or require an OS to operate. Serial, USB or Ethernet interfaces are used for control. Well documented application software with example code allows users to write their own applications for integration of Lumistar products into their telemetry systems.

    The LS-11-F portable FM test transmitter is designed for checkout and troubleshooting of telemetry receiving systems operating with FM modulation. For applications with any of the ARTM modulations (Tier 0, Tier I, or Tier II), please refer to the LS-11-M Data Sheet. Complete ground stations including the antenna with LNA, RF down-converter, IF receiver, bit synchronizer, and PCM decommutator can be tested and bit error tests performed. The design allows secure links to be tested with an external encryptor. The Test Transmitter contains an internal PCM Data Simulator and Pseudorandom patterngenerator that operates in a BERT mode. The device provides simulated clock and data (without transmitter enabled) and accepts external data for modulating the internal transmitter. Complete setup can be achieved locally through the keypad and two-line LCD display or remotely through the USB Interface. Operational parameters include the PCM format parameter database information (frame sync patterns, wavewords, etc…), pre-modulation filter selection, transmitter carrier frequency, transmitter deviation, and output power level. Output power can be selected from approx. -60 to +5 dBm in 5 dB steps. The Test Transmitter contains a LiFePO4 Battery (Lithium Iron Phosphate), which provides higher energy density at ¼ the weight of legacy lead-acid batteries. The unit also provides an internal battery charger and will operate for up to twelve hours on battery power having received on a full charge.

    The Lumistar LS-28-DRSM Series Multi-Mode Multi-Band Receiver/Combiner/TM Processing Unit is designed using ruggedized packaging to survive severe airborne conditions. The LS-28-DRSM is available in several configurations: 1) Airborne receiver only (RF to bits), 2) Airborne bit synchronizer only, 3) RF to TM Processing and Display (RF to bits to UDP decom to LAN Client Displays). Models with receivers are available in any band form 200 MHz to 7 GHz with S, lower L and C bands as standards. Other RF bands are available, please consult the factory for details. This unit can be mated with other Lumistar products to provide a complete air-to-ground re-transmission system.

    The Lumistar LS-84-EC “Economy Chassis” Telemetry System offers a low cost, high performance COTS solution for a portable quick look ground/remote/airborne station. The unit has a built-in computer running Windows 10 (WIN 7 option) for stand-alonecontrol or can be controlled remotely over TCP/IP. Using Lumistar’s PCI-based or modular line of telemetry products, acomplete telemetry ground station can be configured in a very small space. Functions such as RF reception, demodulation, bitsynchronization, simulation, frame sync, decom, data archive and real-time display can all be handled in this unit.     The Lumistar LS-35-R is part of the Lumistar family of digital processing boards used for programmable telemetry systems. The LS-35-R consists of a digital processing main board with two high capacity Xilinx Virtex-5 arrays. The LS-35-R provides a two-channel IF Receiver with Pre/Post detect combining, multimode demodulators with data rates up to 40 Mbps, bit synchronizer outputs, Viterbi decoding, spectral and constellation display, BER reader display and 70 MHz IF modulator with calibratednoise feature. The all-digital design assures a consistent product with high reliability and long-term stability.

    The LS-71P PCI D/A Converter (DAC) board provides high speed analog outputs of PCM decommutated data allowing real time data displays using strip chart recorders or similar devices. The LS-71-P board is designed to be used in conjunction with the Lumistar LS-50-P Multifunction PCM Decommutator boards and uses an over-the-top communication bus directly from the decom to the DAC to avoid any glitches in the analog outputs due to PCI bus activity. Direct “mailbox” type access is also provided to allow the user to send information through the PCI bus to the DACs. The DAC board design allows 2 LS-50-D Multifunction decom boards to be used with a single DAC board allowing tagged data from either data stream to be directed to any DAC channel. An optional LS-71-DB Word Selector Daughterboard allows two additional data streams to be monitored with the ability to select channels from 4 data streams to be displayed on any DAC channel. The design incorporates an extremely large memory (more than 200,000 16-bit words) used as a lookup table allowing linear or non-linear EUconversions with constant delay regardless of the number of polynomial coefficients required. Standard product supports a single decom, however, dual decom support is available as an option.
