Microwave Counters come in several type: Universal counters and RF counters; Continuous Wave (CW) microwave counters; CW microwave counter/power meters; Pulse and CW microwave counters.

• Universal counters (timer/counters) and RF counters(frequency counters) can now extend their frequency measurement capability into the low to mid microwave range (usually to 5 GHz, and in some cases to 12.4 GHz).4 Hints for making Better MicrowaveCounter Measurements • Continuous Wave (CW) micro-wave counters typically measure frequency to at least 20 GHz, and to as high as 50 GHz. Most of these counters can make power measurements as well, using the same input for both frequency and power measurements. • CW microwave counter/power meters are a combination of a microwave frequency counter and a true power meter in one pack-age. Frequency and power measurements are made using separate inputs. Power is measured with an external power sensor, yielding a more accurate measurement. • Pulse and CW microwave counters measure pulsed micro-wave signals (typically found inmilitary applications) as well as CW signals.
