  • Embedded Transceivers

    Smiths Interconnect

Embedded transceivers are chip-sized components based on 850 nm VCSELs and offer bandwidth up to 300 Gbps for short reach applications (<300 m). These transceivers can be soldered or socketed to a printed circuit board and are well suited for small, compact systems requiring high I/O density, low power, and small space. Many of these transceivers have been qualified to operate in harsh environments, such as the ones found in space, and aerospace and defense applications.

  • Launch Analyzer

    2440 - Photon Kinetics

The 2440 Launch Analyzer is the first fully automated test system for characterizing the optical power distribution of the light produced by VCSEL laser sources, multimode fiber test equipment and launch cords utilized in multimode fiber links. Built on over 20 years of experience testing the transmission and geometric properties of muitimode fibers, the 2440 is the ideal solution for ensuring that source launches comply with applicable international component specifications and measurement standards. The 2440 can be configured for measurements in either or both the 850 and 1300 nm windows.

  • Optical Modules

    VI Systems GmbH

VI Systems GmbH introduces the fiber coupled 850nm vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) transmitter module VM64-850M for data rates of up to 80 Gbit/s. The transmitter module features a V-connector for the electrical input signal and for the optical output a 50/125 multi mode fiber which is terminated with a standard FC/PC connector. The left picture below shows the module. The picture on the right shows an optical eye diagram at 32 Gbaud (64 Gbit/s) in a back-to-back test configuration as tested by partners at the Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin.

  • *Divergent Light Measurement

    mks Ophir

The IS1.5-VIS-FPD-800 & IS1.5-IRG-FPD-800 contain 2 photodiodes: a calibrated photodiode for precise power measurement using Ophir meters and a fast photodiode with integral reverse bias circuit for temporal characterization using third-party instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. Their small, 1.5" internal diameter preserves the temporal shape of pulses down to 3.5 nsec for VIS and 6 nsec for IRG. An SMA fiber optic connector is provided for connection to a spectrometer. The large, 20 mm input aperture allows for wide acceptance angles and long working distances, making these spheres well suited for testing VCSELs and other types of laser.

  • SparkFun Distance Sensor

    1.3 Meter, VL53L4CD (Qwiic) - SparkFun Electronics

This SparkFun Distance Sensor Breakout utilizes the VL53L4CD next generation ToF (Time of Flight) sensor module to give you the highly accurate measurements at short ranges for its size. The VL53L4CD from STMicroelectronics uses a VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) to emit an infrared laser to time the reflection to the target. That means that you will be able to measure the distance to an object from 1mm to 1300mm away with millimeter resolution! To make it even easier to get your readings, all communication is enacted exclusively via I2C, utilizing our handy Qwiic system so no soldering is required to connect it to the rest of your system. However, we still have broken out 0.1”-spaced pins in case you prefer to use a breadboard.
