Video Distribution Amplifiers (sometimes called a video splitter – not to be confused with a video split screen controller such as our PXD510E split screen controller) are typically used for connecting a camera or other video source to several monitors that do not have “looping” inputs. In this situation, each monitor has a permanent 75 ohm termination. With two non-looping monitors connected together, the line would be double loaded and result in a dim picture on each monitor. Using a Video Distribution Amplifier will solve this problem by driving each monitor individually at 100%.The second application is when the video signal is run over distances greater than 50 feet. Low-level multiplexed systems have a single programmable gain, wide-band amplifier following the input multiplexer. To accommodate low-level signal signals such as those from strain gauges or thermocouples and at the same time high level signals from other sources, the throughput rate must be limited to enable the high bandwidth amplifier to settle to the correct value after switching to a new channel. This results in a relatively low aggregate throughput rate when compared to an amplifier-per-channel system.
