If, for example, you already think of a particular optochip concept, the researchers offer additional advice and take over design and production steps. On the other hand, if you would like to start with a target specification, a feasibility study will begin and your own concept will be developed for you. Researchers are always ready and able to carry out initial production volumes in an ISO certified, qualified manufacturing facility. In addition, e-beam services and diffractive optical elements developed according to specifications are offered.

  • Portable optical DO meter

ARO-PR - JFE Advantech Co., Ltd.

The Portable optical DO meter makes use of the fast-response optical DO sensor RINKO, maintaining its high-speed response performance (99% response < 7sec). The meter probe is equipped with a temperature sensor close to the sensing foil, and the measurements are made by simply inserting the probe into a DO sample bottle (the calibration is carried out using the National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ) certified traceable gases standards). Differently from galvanic electrode sensors, the instrument does not require water sample stirring or fixing reagents, since there is no oxygen consumption. Thus, the required time to estimate dissolved oxygen is considerably reduced. The display unit shows the output instantaneously, and you can check the measured values in real time.

  • Analysis Tool for ECU Networks and Distributed Systems

    CANape - Vector Informatik GmbH

The primary application area of CANape is in optimizing parameterization (calibration) of electronic control units. During a measurement process, you can simultaneously calibrate parameters and record signals. The communication between CANape and the ECUs takes place via protocols such as XCP or via microcontroller-specific interfaces with the VX1000 measurement and calibration hardware. CANape supports various ADAS sensors such as radar, LIDAR and video. Combined with high-performance hardware, CANape can store multiple gigabytes of data per second. Calibration data management and convenient measurement data evaluation including data management as well as reporting make CANape a complete tool for ECU calibration. Of course, CANape also provides access to bus data, diagnostic data and analog measurement data.

  • Profiling CTDs

    Sea-Bird Scientific

A CTD measures Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth. Despite the name, all CTDs actually measure pressure, which is not quite the same thing as depth. The relationship between pressure and depth is a complex one involving water density and compressibility as well as the strength of the local gravity field. The CTD data can be used to calculate salinity, density, sound velocity, and other parameters of interest. The term CTD is often used today to describe a package that includes the actual CTD as well as auxiliary sensors to measure other parameters (such as dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, fluorometer, altimeter, etc.) and a water sampler to collect water samples for later analysis in the lab. The term Sonde is sometimes used as an alternative to CTD.

  • Logger version 2-D electro-magnetic current meter for deep ocean

    INFINITY-Deep AEMD-USB - JFE Advantech Co., Ltd.

INFINITY-Deep is an autonomously deployable data logger for current speed measurements in the deep oceans. The currents in the deep oceans are very weak. It is too hard to accurately measure the deep water currents by some ADVs (Acoustic Doppler Velocimeters) that detect the Doppler-effect by scatter with the suspended particles in the water, because the concentration is very low. INFINITY-Deep measures 2-D current data through a magnetic field according to Faraday's law. Therefore, even if the suspended particles do not exist around the sensor, it can provide the accurate current data. The depth rating is 6,000m. Compared to INFINITY-EM, the instrument has a depth and a tilt sensors to monitor mooring status. Also, the battery capacity doubles for long-term current velocity measurements.

  • DC Milligauss Meter

    MGM - Alpha Lab, Inc.

An improvement on the flux gate magnetometer, the DC Milligauss Meter measures magnetic fields (technically "flux density") up to several times the strength of the Earth field. It has a resolution of 0.01 milligauss (1 nanotesla) and a range of +/-2000 milligauss (200 microteslas). The meter's magnetoresistive sensor is a major improvement over an uncompensated fluxgate magnetometer both in cost and stability. In fact, this sensor approaches a proton precession magnetometer in temperature stability. However, at only 1 mm x 0.2 mm, the active sensor area is much smaller than fluxgate magnetometer or proton sensors. This allows very precise magnetic measurements in small areas (such as thin films) or with high gradients, when necessary.

  • Water quality profiler with optical fast DO sensor

AAQ-RINKO - JFE Advantech Co., Ltd.

The water quality profiler, AAQ 1183 has been redesigned as AAQ-RINKO with an optical fast response (63% response in water, 0.4 s) DO sensor, RINKO. Conventional water quality profilers with a slow response DO sensor require holding the instrument for a certain period at the measurement depths. AAQ-RINKO makes vertical measurements possible with a profiling speed of 0.5 m/s, similar to CTD observation, thereby significantly reducing the observation time. In addition to conductivity, temperature, depth, chlorophyll, turbidity, DO and pH, AAQ-RINKO also enables simultaneous installation of PAR (Photosynthetic Available Radiation) and ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) sensors. The processing unit is available in three types in accordance with the observation applications.

  • Wind Turbine

    HTW5.2-127¸HTW5.2-136 - Hitachi, Ltd.

As is an inherent in the physics of a downwind configuration, the stronger the wind, the larger the clearance between the blades and the tower by blade flexion. This results in a lower probability of a tower hit. In case of stand still mode, downwind turbine switches to a free yaw operation mode and wards off the cross wind by the weather vane principle without yaw control even in case of black out conditions. This, in principle, reduces overturning moment to the foundation or floaters and maintains high degree of safety. That is important especially for offshore projects. Also, the wind sensors installed at the front of the blades give a more precise wind direction and speed in the upper stream. Yaw and blade pitch shall also be modulated to the right angle for more production.
