The MAGNETOMAT 1.790 is a measuring system for the precision detection of magnetic flux density and relative permeability. The MAGNETOMAT software is used for displaying the measured values and saving and exporting data. The wide range of probes facilitates optimal adjustment to the conditions of the application, such as the measurement of relative permeability within the scope of the quality control of stainless steel and low-permeable (non-magnetic) alloys. Further applications include the long-term monitoring of the magnetic environment, e.g. prior to installing magnetically sensitive devices, and the localization of ferrite enclosures in stainless steel and NE materials. Changes in material (sulfidation, degradation of lamination, structural changes) can also be proven thanks to permeability comparative measurements.

The RF1 near field probe set consists of 4 passive near field probes for making measurements in the development phase of E-field and magnetic field in the ranges of 30 MHz to 3 GHz on electronic assemblies. The probe heads of the RF1 set allow for measurements close to the electronic assemblies, e.g. on single IC pins, conducting paths, components and their connectors in order to localize interference sources. Field orientation and field distribution on an electronic assembly can be detected through a trained special use of the near field probe. The near field probes are small and handy. They have a sheath current attenuation and are electrically shielded. They can be connected to a spectrum analyzer or an oscilloscope with a 50 Ω input. They do not have an internal terminating resistance.

Both provide a digital reading of RF power in dB reference 1 milliwatt of power into a 50 ohm load (i.e. 0 dBm). The circuitry consists of a low noise logarithmic amplifier that drives a digital A/D converting meter circuit. The lowest power levels that can be read are about –73 dBm (approximately 40 microvolts or .00000003 milliwatts). The maximum power input should not exceed 10 milliwatts (+10 dBm or .010 watts) when inputed without attenuation. An internal attenuator is provided and described in the next section.
