Traceable® Moisture Meter displays material, wood, wood product, and paper moisture content 9.0 to 30.0% with a resolution of 0.1% and an accuracy of ±(4% of the reading plus 5 digits). Memory contains nine material groups such as fiberboard, construction material, and calibrations for 150 types of wood. For all other products, user establishes reference moisture readings. Once programmed, the meter reports directly in percent moisture. Simply touch a material to measure moisture. Takes only seconds. Jumbo-size digits are 1-3/8 inches high.

Moisture can be found in any material. Even materials considered to be dry have a minor amount of moisture. An imbalance of moisture, whether it be excessive moisture or too little moisture, can cause problems ranging from undesired mold and bacteria growth to cracks and defects. To avoid a moisture imbalance, it is essential to monitor moisture content with a moisture meter that returns accurate and reliable measuring results. A moisture meter can measure the moisture content of everything from the air (relative humidity) to construction and building materials (concrete, wood) to biomass and agricultural products (hay, straw, grain, corn, beans, pellets) to solid waste (pulp, slurry) and beyond. Many moisture meter devices can also measure temperature. The moisture measurement range of each moisture meter varies depending on the model. Some moisture meter products take moisture measurements, store the moisture measurement data to an internal memory or SD cad, and allow the stored moisture measurement data to be transferred to a computer for detailed analysis by means of an evaluation software. PCE Instruments' moisture meter products come factory calibrated. ISO calibration certificates are available optionally for purchase as accessories to most moisture meter models. An ISO calibration certificate may be important to your company in meeting specific quality standards.

Moisture Meters fall into two categories, pin-type and pinless. Pin-type Moisture Meters measure the resistance between test pins inserted into a piece of wood or a building material and use that reading as a proxy for the object''s absolute moisture level. The wetter the material, the less ready it is to be sanded, painted, finished or covered. A best seller is the MMD4E Pin-Type Moisture Meter. Pinless Moisture Meters rely on the ability of moisture to inductively distort an electric field created by turning on the meter. Although Pinless Moisture Meters can only make relative readings, they are nonetheless useful for pinpointing the source of a leak above a ceiling, and for leaving no unsightly pinholes on a finished surface. A paper moisture meter measures the humidity of paper and paper products. Use of a paper moisture meter can prevent costly damages resulting from paper expansion or shrinking. A paper moisture meter determines paper moisture content based on either absolute humidity or relative humidity. Absolute humidity does not take into consideration temperature, while relative humidity relies on temperature and is expressed as a percentage of the total amount of moisture possible at the current temperature. Thus, many paper moisture meter devices feature automatic temperature compensation (ATC).For paper producers, paper manufacturers, paper mills and others in the pulp and paper industry, moisture and humidity control is essential, especially during the production process, as excessive moisture can lead to warming of the paper rolls.
