The DeltaTrak Electronic Data Logger is a portable, pocket sized electronic device powered by a 10-year lithium battery. It is designed for easy and reliable tracking of parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, electric current, pressure, process signals, and pulse signals. All data loggers have a built-in temperature sensor plus single or multiple external channels where different sensors can be attached for remote monitoring of a variety of parameters. The DeltaTrak Data Loggers interface with a PC and have an internal memory for up to 32,000 readings. Each data point is automatically time and date stamped as it is recorded. Sampling intervals are set by the operator via a user-friendly Windows program on the PC. Recorded data is downloaded and graphed or exported in ASCII format to a spreadsheet for numerical print outs.

The new system requires no internal connections to your computer and simply connects via an external USB port on your laptop or desktop computer. Two versions of the data acquisition system are available. The standard version, THERMES USB, is connected to your computer USB port. The wireless version - THERMES USB WFI, can be either directly connected to a USB port or, with the included wireless receiver, positioned up to 100 feet from the host computer. Each unit will accommodate up to 7 type T thermocouple sensors and multiple Thermes units may be connected to the same computer for more thermocouple inputs. A high accuracy electronic cold junction compensation circuit maintains typical system accuracy of ±0.2°C over an ambient temperature range of 15 to 35°C. Specialists in temperature controlled microscopy, Linkam Scientific Instruments, announce the launch of their Optical DSC450 which enables simultaneous visualization of thermal processes for improved materials characterisation. The Optical DSC450 enables the user to measure glass transitions and melting behaviour of a wide range of substances whilst accurately controlling temperature from -196 °C to 450 °C. The atmosphere of the stage can also be purged with gas as required by the user. A new feature which will increase the characterisation capabilities of the DSC system is to combine it with imaging capability. The new LINK Digital Imaging module enables additional information to be obtained by correlating optical changes such as colour with temperature. The new TASC analysis tool takes this further. TASC (Thermal Analysis by Surface Characterisation) is a new image analysis capability which enables structural changes in samples to be tracked and quantified optically. It has the unique ability to measure local transition temperatures allowing different points on a sample to be identified. The new DSC system is great tool to use in research and quality control to measure quantitative values for glass transitions, melting peaks and sample purity and, when combined with TASC, even sample homogeneity.
